Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Projects in a heavy industrial setting, the Project Estimators are accountable for leading the development, planning and field execution of a portfolio of projects ranging from $250k - $5 million.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Provide overall Project Management following Project Work Management Process from project scope development thru to startup, working with either in-house or external contractors as applicable to achieve the desired results.
Applying knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet or exceed stakeholder needs and expectations.
Ensuring successful completion of projects according to clearly defined and agreed-upon objectives.
Makes independent decisions on work methods and procedures within project scope.
Preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline resources, incorporating best practices in cost control, risk analysis and schedule stewardship.
Managing and controlling projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner, and applicable standards, procedures and quality control requirements are either developed or met as required.
Liaison between operations, maintenance, technical groups and outside contractors. As such the Project Manager must have excellent communication and analytical skills and knowledge of the overall operation of the production units.
Mentoring of E.I.Ts, junior and intermediate project engineers.
Qualifications of the position include:
An Engineering degree in civil engineering discipline with 1 month or moreof experience or must be registered or eligible to register with APEGGA or ASET in the Province of Alberta.
A proven appreciation for, and a demonstrated capability in the application of advanced methods of data collection, data analysis, and engineering/construction progress reporting is required.
A PMP designation would be considered an asset.
