Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the direct client work of all Intake Workers, Case Managers and Employment Coaches in both the Fernie and Cranbrook catchments, including the subcontractors providing Case Managers and Employment Coaches
  • Ensures policy and procedures are adhered to and program standards are consistently met throughout the full range of case management services available; this includes intake, assessment, employment support and services, and follow-up
  • Provides support to staff working with complex client situations including but not limited to individuals who have challenges in achieving and maintaining employment
  • Responsible for all aspects of Client File Management ensuring consistency with Ministry and Accreditation standards
  • Responsible for developing and updating assessment tools required for staff to provide case management services
  • Assists in the development of annual program goals and plans; monitors progress in achieving program goals; maintains records and statistics and produces reports as required; and participates in management team meetings
  • articipates in recruitment and selection of program staff by performing duties such as screening candidates, participating on interview panels and making hiring recommendations
  • Orientates and trains new and existing program staff, volunteers and practicum students as required, to program systems and revisions
  • Develops and updates training materials and process manuals as applicable for program staff ensuring accreditation standards are being met
  • Supervises assigned employees by performing duties such as assigning work in accordance with program staffing requirements, providing feedback on performance, and conducting probationary and annual performance evaluations
  • Builds a case management team across both Cranbrook and Fernie catchment areas by conducting team meetings
  • Ensures sufficient case managed client numbers and diversity of clients are being served in order to maximize client billings to the Ministry
  • Interfaces with the Ministry regarding case managed clients as required for both system and invoicing policies
  • Oversees and officiates the financial and training supports provided to clients
  • Assists with the identifications and addressing of labour market gaps
  • Markets the employment service centres to individuals, community members and agencies, schools and colleges, and employers
  • Builds bridges with community service agencies throughout the region, and encourages mutual referrals
  • Builds and maintains working relations with employers as this relates to finding opportunities for individuals who have challenges in seeking and retaining employment
  • Builds and maintains working relations with formalized sub-contractors of the Association’s WorkBC Works with employers to identify new employee groups, and assists employers and communities in overcoming barriers to hiring and retaining different employees
  • Works across the entire region including the Cranbrook and Fernie catchment areas
  • Performs other related duties as required

Accountability:

§ Reports to the Administrator of Employment Services and or Executive Director
§ Regularly participates in supervision and performance review processes
§ Participates positively and productively as a member of the Associations staff team
§ Adheres to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of Association

§ Represents the Association positively and professionally in the community

Job Requirements
Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelors degree in a human services field such as social work, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of five years experience in the human services field, preferably in employment services and/or with case management processes
  • Minimum of two years experience in supervision and management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and facilitation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and administering skills
  • Able to function independently, often under pressures
  • Current BC driver’s license
