Brief description of client and the opportunity:
The position reports directly to the Maintenance Foreman and is accountable for maintaining and keeping all log books and records current. Operation of all lifting equipment in a safe manner is mandatory. In regards to safety, the successful candidate must participate in daily production/safety meetings and contribute to the development of the daily maintenance plan. They must also keep work areas and equipment clean and free of safety hazards on a continual basis.
Safe operation of all lifting equipment including cranes, hyabs, forklifts and picker trucks
Responsible for keeping records, log books, annual certifications, etc.
Maintenance of the above equipment including service in the shop and in the field when required
Inspection of all equipment including slings shackles, lifting chains, etc.
Disposal and replacement of defective equipment as required
Ensure repairs are completed within established time frames in order to achieve maximum equipment availability
Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the development of the daily maintenance plan
Keep work areas and equipment clean and free of safety hazards on a continual basis
Other labour and equipment operations work associated with the Maintenance crew
Attendance of all safety meetings and related requirements
Any other duties assigned
Alberta or Inter-provincial Mobile Crane Trades ticket
Minimum of 1 year related work experience
Experience with 90 tonne Krupp cranes and higher an asset
Experience with a 5 tonne picker truck an asset
Valid Class 5 driver’s license
Sound knowledge of safe operation of all lifting equipment
Basic mechanical knowledge
Qualified in hoisting and rigging e.g.: sling and shackles ratings
Good understanding of Occupational Health and Safety legislation regarding crane operations
Ability to estimate and calculate weights
Proficient in the safe operation of all assigned equipment
Accurate and timely record keeping skills
Ability to service and maintain all hoisting equipment as needed
