The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton is a non-profit organization created in 1989 to provide compassionate care for injured and orphaned wildlife and educate the public on the importance of wildlife in our community. WRSE is seeking a committed educator with a positive, go-getter attitude. The successful candidate will coordinate our Junior Wildlife Ambassador Program (JWAP) and act as first contact for our volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver WRSE’s Junior Wildlife Ambassador Program accurately and enthusiastically in elementary schools
Provide other workshops as required
Develop and review educational workshops and curriculum
Conduct and compile evaluations
Attend educational events as required
Act of first point of contact for all volunteers
Manage the volunteer database
Conduct volunteer screening as required
Work with a large complement of volunteers in a friendly and helpful manner
Minimum of an undergraduate degree in related field (e.g. education, wildlife biology, zoology)
Excellent project management skills
Strong written and verbal skills
Expertise and demonstrated success in providing educational workshops to youth and in coordinating people, projects and data
Must possess a positive attitude
Valid class 5 driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
Candidates with a background in conservation issues, environmental stewardship and those able to identify all native mammals and birds in Alberta will be given preference
This is a permanent, part-time position with potential for increased hours if additional funding is secured. Extended health benefits are available. Hourly compensation will range between $15.50/hour and $17.00/hour dependant upon experience. Please forward resume and cover letter by Sunday, February 17, 2013.
