POSITION: Learning and Performance Specialist

REPORTS TO: Human Resources Manager

PURPOSE:
Responsible for leading the learning and performance programs for a global customer service focused, vertically-integrated high-performing workforce. The customers for this position include technical & non-technical professionals, manufacturing trades, artists, construction consultants and senior leadership – the Learning and Performance Specialist is adaptable and enthusiastically supports all.
Using an analysis and research based approach to developing programs with alignment to the company and manager goals they will support development and in some cases deliver a variety of content including customer service excellence, Lean, mindset / work habits, safety / wellness and job specific training. The Learning and Performance Specialist is a key role ensuring continued career development and in having employees skilled to meet project demands. They will also be responsible for the Kaizen Performance Feedback program and Skills Matrixes. This position requires an energetic, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Learning and Performance Specialist will be responsible for the following:
 Lead performance-based learning and development programs and opportunities including gap analysis, design/development, delivery, and evaluation for diverse global workforce
 Identify performance improvement opportunities with tangible objectives
o Conduct needs assessments, partner with people leaders and align to company goals
 Improve and maintain Kaizen Performance Feedback program including goals and utilize content to guide learning programs
 Lead train-the-trainer for in-house subject matter experts
o Develop and teach customer service excellence training
o Co-develop and teach Lean training
o Develop and deliver work habits / professional skills training and refreshers
 time management, communications, customer service, high performing teams
 Coordinate Skills Matrixes
o Richmond manufacturing, construction consultants, Philippines manufacturing, sales
 Coordinate Job Specific training
o Sales, Construction AGM, Engineering, other
 With HR Manager, enhance onboarding experience of new employees to have them be highly productive and highly engaged in the shortest amount of time
 Manages corporate training budget and oversees department budgets
 Curate libraries: books, audio books, videos, etraining materials
o Source, write, edit and develop materials and tools
 Partner with post-secondary and other training providers
o Dynamic Achievement, Hawkridge, BCIT, Kwela, WorksafeBC, ISS of BC, Catalyst, Canscott, other
 Coordinates professional dues, recertifications and training reimbursement requests
 Coordinates co-op, intern and apprentice programs
 Liaise with Training Coordinator at Kelowna facility and Helpdesk Administrator at Richmond
 Ensure WhiteWater West’s vision, values and goals are reflected throughout the learning and performance material
 Usage of Non-Compliance Reporting (NCR) / Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) procedures
 Continuous improvement of self and organization
 Fosters a culture and leads the development of Customer Excellence, Continuous Improvement and Lean philosophies
 Lead one continuous improvement project per year
 Respect for people with communication, consideration and cooperation
 Responsible for safety, ensuring best practices are followed
 Execute responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards
 Ensure regular performance feedback through formal performance reviews every 12 months in addition to probationary term reviews

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
 Adult Education / Industrial Psychology post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience
 Ability to tailor content for adults including different education needs, learning styles, professional backgrounds and levels from basic knowledge to high proficiency
 Cross-cultural experience is highly valuable
 Tech savvy including comfort with highly technical content
 Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Lync, Visio and Project
 Familiarity with CAD and other design and engineering programs is an asset
 Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
