Best company I've ever worked for
Welders Helper (Former Employee) –  Foster CreekJuly 21, 2015
Toolbox and safety meetings were always fun, yet productive. The work atmosphere was nearly always positive and I felt like we all worked together as part of a team. All the journeymen were eager to train the apprentices and learn from one another. Employees were always treated with the utmost respect and shown how they were appreciated on a regular basis. I would work for this company again in a heartbeat.
Pros
Always felt appreciated for a good job done.
Cons
When things were slow the days really dragged on.

Small office with average work life balance
Site Cost Administrator (Former Employee) –  Downtown CalgaryJanuary 19, 2015
Small quiet office on the outskirts of downtown. They provide a commuters allowance which was nice but far from covered the cost of parking and commuting. Job security is non existent, they do not try to keep employees busy. When work slows down they lay off employees instead of creating work.
Pros
commuter allowance
Cons
quick to lay off employees

An all-round good company to work for
Pipe fitter (Former Employee) –  Nisku, ABDecember 11, 2013
Mornings at WIC always started out a bit slow.
The organization, to the actual work being done took close to an hour to begin.
I learned many different skills during my work time at this company.
Steamfitter/Pipefitter to Welders helper, with days of hydro testing.
My Co-workers were great, many people all happy to be there.

Hardest part of the job would of been transferring work areas constantly, which also is the most enjoyable part as well, working on entirely new projects was always fun.
Pros
off at 2:30 fridays, wednesdays had very cool safety meetings
Cons
no guarenteed work, overly crowded change rooms.

good people to work with and you are allowed to be you and they give you great support
Site Safety Advisor (Former Employee) –  Cochrane, ABNovember 4, 2013
Great company to work for. They demand you do your job and treat you fairly, They listen to what you have to say and encourage you to speak your mind. They encourage you to participate in all forms of employment planning and give your opinion about how things can be improved. They have a fairly good safety culture and the safety department is working hard to improve it all the time. You are encouraged and expected to attend Company/Client meetings and to give your input. My coworkers were very patient and easy to get along with and everyone was encouraged to have a good time. The accommodate the employee where they can and do not ask you to do more than you are capable of doing.
Pros
listen to your input and ask for suggestions
Cons
management inspections, safety reports from management

I really enjoyed working for Whaler.
Safety Advisor/ Coordinator (Former Employee) –  CalgaryJanuary 22, 2015
Yes the may be a little conservative with raises and a little lacking on support at that time. With the New Safety manager things are sure to flow a lot more smoothly.
