Whaler Industrial Contracting Inc. is an Alberta Construction Company, wholly owned by Trotter and Morton, whose core business interests are industrial and construction management. Whaler Industrial Contracting Inc. provides general and mechanical construction services to the oil and gas industry in Western Canada.
We are looking for an experienced Safety Lead for our Hardisty job site. This is a temporary position and is a 10/4 shift.
-Responsible for the implementation of the Site Safety program and the administration of Whaler’s Safety Manual
-Responsible for the orientation and, if required, the testing of all site personnel
-Responsible for the Bi-weekly Safety Meeting, ensuring that all Whaler direct hire and subcontractors are in attendance and active participants in the site safety meetings. The CSC will act in conjunction with the Corporate Safety Manager to ensure that site safety meetings are relevant and made interesting, in order to captivate the imaginations of the workers
-Review all safety opportunity cards submitted and will showcase cards at either the Daily Toolbox or Biweekly Safety Meetings
-Check Whaler personnel certifications and data-based for expiry
-Coordinate special training, such and FA, WHMIS, Fall Protection, H2S, Confined Space Entry, etc.
-Conduct Safety Audits and perform Root Cause Analysis of incidents and near misses and complete the documentation required for managing claims, complaints, etc.
-Responsible for all data management including hours worked, kilometer driven,
-Competent in the development of Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) and Job Safety Assessments (JSA) and responsible for the dissemination of potential hazards to sister operations (projects)
Skills and Qualifications:
-Proficient with MS Office
-Will be current with the WCB & OH&S Standards of safety in the jurisdiction Whaler operates in
-Will ensure and help the AGF work with in the OH& S regulations and have a full and complete understanding of the same
-Minimum of 8-years direct project experience and hold a NCSO Certificate or recognized equal,
-Hold current tickets and certifications in the relevant areas of construction that the project is involved in.
