This position is located at the Edson OSB Mill, located in Edson, Alberta Canada. This IT position will focus on all facets of technical support, including networking, Wonderware HMI applications, IP21 Database, and hardware/ software applications. This is an excellent opportunity to work on the front lines of Weyerhaeuser manufacturing facilities and make a difference using your IT Skills.

Key Functions:
This position is part of the Mill IT team reporting to the Mill manager. We are building an elite support team that focuses on safely delivering customer IT requirements and support. The job duties include front line IT support, desktop, networking, phone system, application support, application maintenance, data integrity, projects and infrastructure support.

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in IT Technology.
  • Work history that demonstrates characteristics of highly motivated, team oriented, self directed work, and a commitment to successful results.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team as well as independently under general guidance
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision
  • Ability to communicate in a non-technical manner to a broad and diverse audience
  • Skilled facilitator, trainer and creative thinker
  • Gains acceptance of a concept, plan, or effort through use of appropriate interpersonal skills, leadership and communications
  • Strong troubleshooting & problem-solving skills for technical incidents (good structured troubleshooting methodologies and approaches)
  • Ability to interact with business users and team members to understand problems, prioritize needs, collect requirements, and follow through with commitments
  • Work with various technical teams including 3rd party vendors onsite and remotely to troubleshoot, resolve problems, and implement technical solutions
  • This role will be expected to support a flexible work schedule that might include some on-call rotations and after hours support
  • Focus on safety for self and others every day.

Highly Valued:

  • Desktop support experience – Windows operating systems, SCCM, Java, Wonderware
  • Hardware support experience – Dell Desktops, Laptops, and Tablets, Wyse Clients
  • Hands-on WAN, LAN, WLAN incident/MAC (installs, moves, adds, changes, etc.) resolution skills preferred—will work out of a ticketing system/queue (the majority of the network is Cisco-based; routers, switches, wireless, firewalls, etc.)
  • Vehicle Mounted Terminals
  • Experience in primary manufacturing production environment
  • MS Office Suite
  • Database administration experience - Oracle, MS SQL Server, IP21
  • Reporting Services - Microsoft SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services)
  • Business Intelligence (SAP BIS, BIRDS and other data marts)

The salary range for this position will be $80k - $90k depending on experience.
