Reporting to the Community Support Program Manager, the Community Support Program Assistant will assist in providing supervised activities for clients with dementia-related disorders in the Adult Day Program (ADP). This position may also assist with delivery of other programs within the Community Support Services team.

Duties & Responsibilities
Work closely with ADP staff and volunteers to assist with program activities
Ensure safety and security measures for the clients
Assist with ordering and purchasing program supplies
Take responsibility for the day to day housekeeping in the programs
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of daily documentation and statistics related to the programs
Assist with delivery of other programs within Community Support on an as-needed basis (Meals on Wheels, Diners Clubs, Transportation, etc)

Education & Knowledge
Must have been a full-time student during the preceding academic year and have the intention to return to school full-time for the upcoming academic year
Education or training in, gerontology, dementia studies, nursing, social work, social sciences or recreation would be an asset
Experience working or volunteering with seniors or adults with physical disabilities
Ability to identify and serve the needs of diverse communities
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to communicate in English

Salary & Hours of Work
Contract (8 to 10 weeks)
30 hours per week
$11.00 hourly (plus 4% vacation pay)
