Title: Quality Control Inspector (Fabrication)
Location: Western Manufacturing Ltd.
Reports to: Quality Control Manager
The QCI facilitates the quality assurance program for Western Manufacturing Ltd. and supports the management group by ensuring quality standards are met and in adherence with Western’s Quality Management System (QMS). Job duties will include but are not limited to the following:
*Building and keeping the job files current to the stage of the project and inspection.
*Ensure QC Inspection Sheets are accurate and current to the stage of inspection.
*Coordinating 3rd party inspections and determining hold points. Communicating those hold points with management for planning workforce activities and scheduling.
*Communicating inspection successes/failures with management.
*Identifying nonconformities during fabrication process and communicating NCR’s with management. Sending the NCR report directly to the QC Manager upon immediate discovery.
*Responsible for the coordination of Welder Testing
*Providing QC Administration with required job file containing all information at the time of project completion.
*Ensures Quality Assurance procedures and practices are followed for inspections in accordance with our manual and applicable code.
*Ensure QC inspection sheets are accurate and current to the stage of inspection. QCI is solely responsible to complete all QC inspection forms (paper and/or Canvas forms). Ensuring no other individuals including sub-contractors are authorized to complete the inspection forms, unless otherwise designated person is assigned
*Ensure QC inspections sheets, photographs and other relevant documents are placed in the appropriate job file and on the server upon completion of review
*Ensure Quality assurance procedures and practices are followed in accordance with Western’s Manufacturing Ltd. QMS
· In conjunction with QCM, help establish the revised or new procedures, inspections forms and/or QMS
*Diploma Education in an applied science / engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technologist or appropriate verifiable years of experience and CWB Welding supervisor (CSA 47.1).
*Minimum 3 years of experience in welding inspections related to Pressure vessels & piping, API tanks etc.,
*Extremely detail-oriented and analytical thinker.
*Extensive knowledge and well versed interpretation of ASME Sec VIII Div 1, ASME B31.1 & B31.3, API 12F, 650, 653, 2000, CSA 47.1, W59 ASTM, CSA etc., Knowledge of MTR’s
*Identify Non-conformities during welding, sand blasting, coatings and completions and ensure holds are placed and management is notified using applicable NCR and inspection forms and documented
*Verify and ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and documented with current dates
*Witnessing and verifying all Holiday and Dry Film Thickness (DFT) tests
*Prepare & coordinate repair/alteration inspection plans
*Reviewing and adjusting specific workforce activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules. Will identify and report any scheduling conflicts with management
*Must be cognizant of the impact of decisions made and the effect on the operating culture of Western Manufacturing Ltd.
*Will represent Western Manufacturing Ltd. in an ethical and professional manner of oral and written internally and externally
