Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the daily operation of the housekeeping department through motivation, training and development of team members. The Housekeeping Supervisor is required to maintain a flexible schedule and be available to work shift work including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver the highest level of cleanliness in guestrooms and public areas
  • Clean assigned guestrooms, including the daily changing of bed linens, replacing towels, cleaning the bathroom, dusting, vacuuming and the removal of garbage
  • Ensure all corridors, storage closets and public areas in the section are cleaned to Hotel standards
  • Securing par levels and maintaining Housekeeping amenity and linen supply inventory
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in all aspects of job performance
  • Follow-up with any guest complaints or concerns to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Implements and maintains Housekeeping standards
  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to personal guest service excellence and profitably through special duties as assigned
  • Knows all emergency procedures and general crisis situation management, including fire and emergency procedures, and Health & Safety standards
  • Upholds the highest standard of internal and external customer service at all times
  • Regular liaison with the Guest Services team ensuring smooth and efficient processes and communication between teams
  • Conduct Room Attendant room inspections
  • Conduct VIP room inspections
  • Clean assigned rooms and/or completion of Houseperson duties as necessary
  • Continuous supervision and coaching of Housekeeping team
  • Liaise with Maintenance regarding guestroom and public space deficiencies
  • Close and lock Housekeeping office, and collection of all assigned keys and daily assignments at end of day
  • Attend Housekeeping meetings and Supervisor meeting
  • Ensuring that the Housekeeping SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are being adhered to
  • Development and training of new Housekeeping associates
  • Conducting quarterly training sessions, one-on-one meetings, coaching, performance reviews and providing support for all Housekeeping associates
  • Responsible for Housekeeping scheduling and operations in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper
  • Perform other tasks as required


  • Minimum 2 years' previous experience in Housekeeping operations, preferably in hotel or similar environment
  • University degree or College diploma in Hotel Management an asset
  • Knowledge of computerized Front Office systems required with emphasis in Opera an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be able to work shift work, including weekends and holidays
  • Strong guest service orientation and training skills background required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Additional language preferred
  • Attention to detail, proven leadership and problem solving skills
  • Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well under pressure
