Position Title: Lead Groundskeeper (some light maintenance) - Commercial

Position Summary:

The Property Maintenance worker is primarily responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance projects on the various commercial sites, with a strong focus on cleanliness of the properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the property is well maintained and managed in accordance with guidelines
  • Responsible for completion of projects as required/requested by the Property Manager. Assist maintenance personnel, as required
  • Adhere to property cleaning schedule
  • Summer: litter pickup, sweep (walkways, sidewalks, driveways, ramps and all other walkways as required), debris removal, litter pickup, removing garbage from garbage barrels, pruning of minor trees and shrubs, cleaning of parkades, stairwells, elevators, HVAC areas, and removal of leaves and dirt
  • Winter: clear snow off sidewalks and parking lots, apply sand and ice melt (in addition to snow contract),

debris removal, litter pickup, cleaning (parkades, stairwells and elevator), and HVAC areas

  • Identify and rectify any general maintenance issues on the properties such as overhead doors checked for proper operation, light bulb replacement, painting, roofing issues, and sewer back-ups
  • Pressure wash stairwells and concrete walls/floors daily
  • Regular inspections of properties for vandalism and graffiti; removal as required
  • Daily check for exterior lighting and prompt replacement of any bulbs that are burnt out
  • Groundskeeping – sweep paving brick, driveways, ramps and walks, removal of leaves, dirt, ice, snow etc.; maintain all exterior landscaping in summer.
  • Coordinate contractor access and work in conjunction with contractors to complete various tasks
  • On-call for after hours emergencies, on rotation
  • Record monthly utility meter readings
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety standards and legislation guidelines

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Two to five years relevant experience
  • Energetic, positive attitude
  • Physically fit, ability to lift, carry or move heavy items
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required (prefer truck for ease of moving equipment/tools)
  • Available for on-call emergencies
  • Must have own basic tools
  • Must be available to work irregular work hours including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work efficiently and independently
  • Highly organized, results oriented and ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
  • Security clearance required upon offer of employment
