Stressful but get it done type of atmosphere!
Afterhours Escalation Support Manager (Current Employee), Omaha, NEApril 1, 2014
Pros: great entry level pay, wonderful team, people believe in you, etc.
Cons: never having time for a break, stress to the max, management doesn't listen
A typical day at work is checking emails, talking to my clients, speaking with technicians, yelling at technicians laughing with co workers, and getting service restored and having happy clients.

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Tulsa, OKMarch 28, 2014
Pros: everything
Cons: didnt accept doctor notes
A TYPICAL DAY AT WORK. START ANSWERING CALLS BUT YOU LEARN ALOT FROM THE GUESTS BECAUSE SOME TRY TO LIE TO YOU.
MANAGEMENT IS GREAT IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM THEY ARE VERY QUICK TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
CO WORKERS VERY NICE AND IF YOU EVER NEEDED HELP WE WERE THERE FOR ONE ANOTHER.
THE HARDEST PART OF THE JOB IS IF YOU GET A FRAUD CALL THERE WAS NOTHING WE – more... COULD DO AND MOST OF THE TIME GUESTS WOULD CURSE US OUT BECAUSE ALL WE COULD TELL THEM IS TO CONTACT THEIR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT.
THE MOST ENJOYABLE PART OF THE JOB TO ME REALLY WAS THE WHOLE JOB. – less

Fast pace and fun energy, call center with dancing
Customer Representative (Former Employee), Pensacola, FLMarch 24, 2014
-A typical day was answering calls to add phone, internet, or cable. I also took payments, transfer calls to tech, loyalty, or collections.
-Co-workers were fun, positive, and had great energy. To help motivate us to make sales, we would get incentives.
-The most enjoyable part of the job was when we made a sale we would get passes to dance or get extra – more... breaks. Helping the customer was the best feeling.
-The hardest part about the job was understanding people that did not speak clear English. – less

Poor management can kill your productivity
Technical Support Representative (Former Employee), Spokane, WAMarch 18, 2014
Pros: lots of available hours to pick up
Cons: short breaks, no reasonable benefits, poor management.
I worked at West Corporation for a little over a year. I was consistently ranked in the top 5% for the site. I was a technical, billing, and warranty representative. The job itself is really not that bad, however poor management in the Spokane WA area completely destroys your will to work. I have had great supervisors, and some terrible ones. The upper – more... management is in no way concerned with keeping tenured staff, even with good stats as they are the exception. They have told us that studies show that people with less tenure there tend to provide better stats for them, and thus the mentality is to get rid of any long tenured staff member taking calls. I have witnessed people let go for absolutely nothing at all. Furthermore the Head of the site is a liar and a poor example of good management. I was told that he invented a tool there that is used to gauge your performance when I questioned it's validity. This was not only untrue but no attempt was ever made to show me where I was wrong, I was merely told I was wrong. This happens to be a trend with all "bad" managers there. The few good ones will either tell you that you are doing it right, or they will show you calls where you failed to do something. This was far more effective for me because I can not dispute a recording of me not offering something. But lazy managers will briefly look at stats and find something that isn't perfect and hound you for it without actually working with you. As a last resort the place isn't that bad, it's a paycheck, but a meager one at that. The health benefits for the grunts taking the calls is basically non-existent, and the only real solace is that you will get about 10 days of paid time off if you can make it a year there. Another big problem with the site I worked at was that they constantly cheated to keep their numbers up. We were told once that all surveys were going to be allowed on our stats because some site was cheating and flagging all escalated calls as manager calls to make it exempt from the survey, well, this is exactly what they were doing with "angry disconnect sheets". They would have a manager call the angry customer back, and whether they got a hold of them or not it wold be flagged as a manger call so the survey they might have gotten wold not be counted. This is not what AT&T wants them to do. You do not want to work for a company that is this dishonest. This demonstration of their lack of integrity is a common theme with most of their interactions with staff. You have been warned, do not expect much more than a paycheck from these guys. – less

It can be a good job if you're into it
Technical Support (Former Employee), Niles, OHMarch 14, 2014
Pros: good pay, you can add more hours if you want or post your hours if needed for someone else to pick up
Cons: you can't get sick
It was a good job to have. I had a decent pay and the customers you could manage to handle. Some are very nice while other a very mean, which is to be expected. Only had one customer that I ever really had to report. Also, you are trained to do your job, but while I was there, the training period got shorter. However, you are not allowed to get sick – more... while working here. They have a 90% attendance policy, and sickness doesn't excuse you from that. Being in the hospital doesn't excuse you for that as well. You can try to work something out, but you have to be able to afford to go to the doctors, and they don't accept doctor excuses when you do go. Only if you have missed 3 days or more AND have a doctors excuse will they be able to try and help you. – less

Fun workplace, great environment
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Pensacola, FlMarch 12, 2014
Pros: nice people, pay was awesome, supportive management...
Cons: short breaks, mean customers...
Being an employee at West was the best experience I've had in my life, dealing with different kinds of people on the the phone. from dealing with the attitudes and the nice ones, that job really helped me control my attitude and become very patient with people. The management there was so supportive and kind, I loved getting up every morning going to – more... work. The hardest part of the job was the beginning when I was nervous and shy, but working at West really helped me become a peoples person and boost my confidence. Helping the customer and employees was the most enjoyable part of working at West. – less

Great people to work with as well as work for. I learned how to fix mobile devices as well as other issues customers were having with their AT&T accounts. Management was very nice and considerate and taught me a lot of useful tools. The hardest part of the job was trying to satisfy customers to every extent of their needs even when it was impossible. – more... I liked how much overtime was offered. – less

Great opportunity to learn, good pay, different each day
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Huntsville, ALMarch 7, 2014
Pros: great schedule
Cons: could have paid a little better
A typical day at work was just filled with various calls relating to health insurance. I was responsible for answering questions about members' benefits, eligibility and claims. It was a position that made you have to be very knowledgeable, but also resourceful if the answer was unknown. The management was descent and tried to help when possible. Some – more... of the co-workers were efficient and willing to help in the early stages of learning, while others had become complacent. The hardest part of the job was toggling between 2-3 systems while documenting and speaking with clients, but because I knew my systems it wasn't that difficult for me. The most enjoyable part of the job was getting to speak to new people everyday. – less
