Occupational Health Nurse/WSIB Case Manager

Our services help corporate clients become more efficient and profitable through improved employee health, attendance, and productivity. We are currently seeking an Occupational Health Nurse with WSIB case management experience to provide services to a large automotive company in the tri city area.

Position Summary:

The Occupational Health Nurse/Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) Case Manager offers occupational health services to all employees, interacts with employees, employers, and health care providers including WSIB, and manages workplace injuries, provides early intervention, and safe return to work accommodations in order to optimize outcomes. This role includes an extensive understanding of WSIB

Responsibilities:

- Implement and monitor the case management of WSIB claims, for the delivery of timely and quality health care to employees, and facilitate their early and safe return to work; oversee the modified duty program
- Provide primary care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses, including assessment, preparation of care plan, treatment, referral and preparation of Return to Work Plan, as indicated
- Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system
- Develop relevant statistical data
- Identify health needs for workers, develop objectives, and implement programs in health promotion, maintenance and rehabilitation
- Develop and maintain a liaison with health and services agencies in the community
- Cooperate with and act as a resource to the appropriate personnel in developing and maintaining a safe work environment
- Participate in professional nursing organizations and assume responsibility for professional growth and development

Education:

- Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse – in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN-C) or Diploma in Occupational Health Nursing (DOHN)-an asset
- Current Certification in CPR and First Aid-an asset

Desired Skills and Experience:

- 3-5 years’ experience in related field
- Experience with spirometry, audiometry, vision screening, and respirator fit testing an asset
- Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of disability legislation and regulations, including Duty to Accommodate, Employment Equity Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Human Rights Legislation, Accessibility Ontario Disability Act (AODA), Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Proficient in computer programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Parklane
- Ability to work in a cooperative/ collaborative manner to achieve a desired result
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all areas of responsibility
- Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy, and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required
