Unprofessional work environment with poor customer service skills
Door Sales Representative (Current Employee), London, ONSeptember 17, 2014
Pros: pizza occasionally
Cons: selling lawn care in the winter and not receiving even legal minimum adult wage. (9.60 not 10.25)
Weed Man in London Ontario was an incredibly unprofessional place of employment. Hired as a door knocker the job requires individuals to wear a weed man reflector vest filed with holes that smells because they aren't washed. You are then given a tablet with street names and house numbers on it which is then divided into two sides- odd and even- and – more... given to two people. Once at the door the pitch is to offer a free no obligation lawn care estimate in which if they sign we promise they will only be called once, offered the services of the company and if they aren't interested they won't be bothered again.
However, this is not true. The company has each number on rotary so there is no way that the people who sign and aren't interested are only called once. This is a lie.

At my orientation i asked my boss about the company so if people at the doors asked about it i could tell them accurate information. My boss said this was unnecesary and i wouldn't need to tell them anything about the company. This left a lot of people at the doors wondering if we were a legitimate business asking them for all of their personal information in our hole ridden reflector vests not knowing anything at all about the company we're pitching to them. – less

REPRÉSENTANTE SERVICE À LA CLIENTÈLE (Former Employee), 1123 autoroute 440, Laval, QuebecJuly 22, 2014
Pros: close to my home.
Cons: unstable hours due to shortage of work.
A typical day involved answering phones for customer service, filing and mail. Nice work environment with friendly co-workers and management. Supervisor was very calm in her training methods. I would have stayed longer, but because of shortage of work, I was let go. Most difficult part of the job was dealing with customer cancellations. I still learned – more... a lot in the short time I worked there. – less

Lawn Care Technician (Current Employee), Oakville, ONJune 18, 2014
Pros: good pay, positive environment
Cons: short term employment
I worked as an aeration tech at the Oakville location, and it was hard work, and I enjoyed doing that hard work. Both employees and managers were positive, and the work was standard full time with a fair pay.

Outside Sales Manager & Supervisor (Former Employee), Whitby, ONApril 21, 2014
No living person should ever work here. You are expected to work minimum 6 days a week. 12 hour days. Its not fun to work there. Your best is never good enough and expectations were too high and never achievable.

Working for Weed Man
Sales Rep (Former Employee), Whitby, ONMarch 3, 2014
Pros: meet new people
Cons: long days, have to work in any type of weather
When i worked for Weed Man, we would drive to the designated area with a van full of sales reps such as myself and door knocked. I learned how to communicate with new people and how to have ore confidence. The management was really relaxed, when was nice. Most, if not all of the co-workers were in their late teens/early 20's so that also made it more – more... of a chilled environment. The hardest part of the job, i found was taking no for an answer repeatedly at times. It makes your confidence fall after a while and you start to feel like you don't want to work anymore. Also, we usually had to door knock even if it was raining (not lightning of course.) The most enjoyable part was being in an environment like that; surrounded my people your age and have the same lifestyle, it made the day go by fast sometimes. – less

Customer Service Agent (Former Employee), Hamilton, ONJanuary 11, 2014
Weed Man is a difficult job to work they take you and six other kids out into random areas and have you go door to door asking for signatures sound easy right ? well people are not often to found of us and often say horrible things to you the worst part is the cold during the winter times but come summer its smooth sailing from there on out it is a – more... great starter job for those eager to get into the work place and make some quick cash but there isn't much job security as they are constantly hireing and fireing people – less

Relaxed easy going with funny co-workers
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Windsor, ONNovember 23, 2013
Pros: having your own company truck
Cons: working in bad weather
I do all of my sales callbacks from the previous day's leads, fill out my daily paperwork, then proceed to go in my company truck and drive out to my designated neighbourhood where I wait for sales leads. Once I get the list of potential customers, I then proceed to go forth and make sales.

I learned the art of selling - persuasion, negotiation, overcoming – more... objections, and how to use my charming personality to my advantage.

Management is friendly, easy going, and funny; as are my co-workers.

Hardest part of the job - not making sales and working in bad weather.

Most enjoyable part of the job - being mobile and making sales. – less

Never a dull moment.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Toronto, ONAugust 1, 2013
Pros: great people to work with
Cons: little to no hours
People that work at weedman are great people, you have to be to survive there. The work itself is very stressful. Customers are always angry because of the new products weed man is forced to use. Constant pressure from manager to save impossible customers and to up sell. Its called a customer service position but there is a heavy emphasis on meeting – more... a weekly sales quota. You work 5-6 days a week for about 4 hours each day. Part time CSR are fired on a weekly basis, but during the interview they do tell you its seasonal work. I made good friends during my stay, but if I were to go back I would've worked somewhere else. – less

Part Time job during school
Going door to door as sales representative (Former Employee), Surrey, BCMarch 13, 2013
Pros: get to choose amount of days and hours in a week
Cons: there was a quota for a day you and your team had to reach
Go walk door to door to peoples house and ask them if they were interested in what the company was offering
I learned that money is not that easy to make even though this job did not have a lot to do
Management was not the best it just used to set schedules and if it was your first day they would train you for an hour or so
Co-workers became friends – more... after the first day and everyone used to get along with each other
The hardest part was walking long distances
The easiest part was talking to people – less
