Wee Care Developmental Centre is a non-profit daycare dedicated to a positive learning environment that supports children in their development. We require an Early Childhood Educator to join our professional team of Early Childhood Educators.
The Early Childhood Educator is responsible to provide a safe, caring and developmentally appropriate early learning environment for children. The children at the centre range from 4 months to 5 years. The Early Childhood Educator will use the centre’s philosophy, programs and policies to maintain and enhance the centre’s reputation for excellence. The centre provides an enriched environment with quality learning experiences through emergent curriculum. We are an inclusive centre and the Early Childhood Educator will be responsible to work with children with special needs. This role requires a team oriented approach, complemented by strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to form collaborative relationships with children, families, co-workers and community resources.
The Early Childhood Educator will develop child care programs that provide an opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play and music. The Early Childhood Educator will assess the developmental level of children, prepare progress reports and discuss with parents and other staff members. The Early Childhood Educator will maintain daycare supplies and equipment. The Early Childhood Educator will provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities.
Terms: This is a full-time, permanent, unionized position, 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday.
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $28,000.00 to $32,000.00. Yearly for 40 hours per week.

About the Ideal Candidate:
MUST have an Early Childhood Diploma or Early Childhood Degree
Experience working with children with special needs an asset
Experience working in day care setting an asset
Exceptional time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills
Flexible, patient, professional, prompt and reliable attendance at work
Initiative, enthusiasm, love of learning
Must have valid Criminal Record Check
Must have Child Abuse Registry Check
Must have First Aid and CPR
Promotes ethical practices and attitudes of the Nova Scotia Child Care Association
Working knowledge of:
Nova Scotia Daycare Act and Regulations
Nova Scotia’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, including WHMIS
