Our client is a world class Automotive Supplier located in the Brampton area. We are looking for a welder that would like to further develop his/her skills and work at a company that truly believes in employee empowerment. The pay rate is competitive.

Description (Purpose and Main Responsibilities):

Responsible for Manual MIG welding of production parts and/or TIG repair of rework parts while maintaining required quality and production standards.
Main Duties/Activities

  • Check all safety controls for proper operation at the start of shift
  • Load, position and clamp components into the weld fixture by following defined operator and standardized work instructions
  • Manually MIG weld components together following defined welding instructions
  • Visually self inspect welds and parts for obvious defects defined by welding acceptance criteria
  • Unload and pack parts into designated dunnage and record information in line with defined instructions
  • Perform detailed gauge dimensional inspection when required to determine quality of product
  • Record and dispose of defective products in designated manner (red bins)
  • Produce Parts according to physical Kanban and keep count of completed product on each run
  • Follow and apply 7 Quality Basics (Ok 1st Piece, Rework under control, Poka Yoke, etc)
  • Ensure all poka-yoke and ‘Ok First part’ procedures are followed and documented
  • Ensure QRCI, Stop at Defect and similar protocols are followed
  • Follow all safety procedures in line with company policy
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in area and throughout the plant
  • All other duties assigned by the Production Supervisor

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Ensure good welding practices are carried out (parameters control procedure etc.) at all times.
  • Working knowledge of weld parameters, weld controller, torch, wire, weld gas and consumables
  • Implement minimum two improvement ideas per month
  • Actively participate in work teams to ensure production needs are met
  • Implement a minimum of 2 improvement ideas per month

Physical Requirements

  • Requires pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, gripping and bending, twisting, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds (full exhaust assemblies)
  • High mental and visual effort required
  • Able and willing to work overtime when required

Safety / Hazards:

  • Steel toe shoes, Safety glasses and Ear Protection required
  • May be exposed to flying objects such as weld slag and sparks
  • May be exposed to weld fumes and dust
  • Exposed to moderate burnes, cuts and bruises

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and Competencies):

  • Minimum 2 years of hands on welding experience and competent to operate welding equipment
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform welding tasks on any production line and assembly parts effectively
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform welds that conform to quality standards and production pace
  • Able to rework assemblies effectively and perform basic minor repairs on welding and welding equipment
  • Ability to follow instructions both verbal and written, good math, language and readings skills required
  • Good communication skills demonstrated by the ability to communicate with employees at all levels
