Our Client is a world class manufacturer located North of Toronto and they are looking for certified industrial electrician with PLC troubleshooting / modification experience. The shift would be a rotating 12 hour continental but shift flexibility is a priority. The pay is competitive and will be discussed according to your qualifications.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To maintain all automated plant production equipment and production related equipment from an electrical perspective. Notify management when equipment repairs and replacements must be made in order to ensure that production equipment fully operational to meet plant needs.
Main Duties / Activities:
¨ Required to troubleshoot, maintain and repair all automated equipment
-¨ Make recommendations on changes to equipment, method or product
¨ Ability to perform moderate mechanical repairs and assist other trades as needed
¨ Perform preventative maintenance on all automated and electrical systems
¨ Ability to work from blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions
¨ Ability to perform electrical testing, repairs and new equipment installation on equipment using up to 600V
¨ Working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
¨ Have thorough knowledge of instrumentation, PLCs (Allen-Bradley and Siemens), HMI, and related programming
¨ Have knowledge of PC controlled systems and PC repair and upgrading, including: hard drive replacement, installation of cards and modules and software installation
¨ Have knowledge of Function Testers. “LabView” knowledge is an asset
¨ Operate a fork lift truck (if properly licensed) as required
¨ Operate scissor lift and articulating boom lift (if properly licensed) as required
¨ Ensure that safety devices/logic is not by-passed during operational modes and that all mechanical guarding is replaced and made active if removed during troubleshooting or repair processes
¨ If in doubt about proper functioning of equipment, immediately inform a Supervisor or Production Manager
¨ Must communicate with Technical Supervisor and Production Manager on equipment problems related to production
¨ Follow all safety procedures (Government regulations and Company rules), and work in a safe manner
¨ Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout the plant
¨ All other duties as assigned by any management personnel
¨ Able to use all tool room and measuring equipment
¨ Participate in the plant’s Improvement Idea Program. Meet or exceed requirements
¨ Must maintain good attendance - attend scheduled shifts, arrive on time and work overtime when required
¨ Return from breaks promptly and vary break times to minimize
equipment repair downtime and to complete PMs during production breaks and/or down time
Specific Responsibilities
¨ Maintain and troubleshoot automated equipment within the production environment
Skills and Know-how
Automation Trade background with certification
Must have thorough knowledge of servo drives, load cells and torque transducers
