We design, build, deploy and service critical power systems that include all elements on the customer side of the electrical entrance including the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), the generator set, the DC power plant and the Uninterruptible Power System (UPS). We are currently seeking a Sales Representative to contribute to the achievement of individual performance goals and team targets by selling complex DC powerplant solutions to potential customers and prospects across Canada and the USA. Applying your superior sales and communication skills and in-depth product knowledge, you will identify suspects and convert them into an active pipeline that meets the pipeline and sales targets set by the sales team.
You will work independently but with the support of a strong executive team and a multi-disciplinary project team to sell complex power systems. While primarily focused on sales the role also requires a certain amount of oversight to guarantee quality customer delivery. This role will involve travel (including global travel) up to 50% of the time. The travel requirement can occasionally include last minute trips around the globe for up to two weeks at a time.
The nature of the role varies according to industry or sector, but the range of activities is likely to include:
Use consultative selling techniques to achieve or exceed individual revenue targets
Develop an annual sales plan aligned to achieve sales quota, initiate adjustments to the plan as required to achieve targets, monitor sales cycle activities and performance indicators to determine the long term potential of individual clients, and for existing customers develop customer specific action plans to win additional business
Establish relationships with key decision-makers in all areas of the customer’s business and determine the appropriate solution fit by identifying and assessing the customer’s business needs, creating ways to engage and keep the customer’s interest during the selling process, and promoting the superior value and benefits of Wattst’s products and services
Consult with internal Watts contacts to assess customer risk and growth potential, use knowledge of trends as well as the customer’s financial condition and business plan to develop appropriate sales contracts based on cost benefit analysis of the sales opportunity, monitor and review customer sales contracts
Maintain regular contact and work in partnership with internal Watts contacts to facilitate customer problem resolution, and to develop strategies and implement specific action plans to minimize shortfalls and maintain and grow sales revenue
Prepare and deliver effective presentations to customers, and write successful sales proposals and businesses cases
Ensure all sales call activity information is captured, maintained and updated in the corporate salesforce.com system, including customer contact information and market and competitive intelligence
Gain and maintain knowledge and understanding of our products and services and their value proposition in order to sell both innovative and appropriate solutions which add value to customers’ business operations and to increase cross-sell and up-sell sales opportunities
Maintain a current knowledge of Watt’s operations and delivery processes, as well as knowledge of customers’ industry sectors and the competitive market
The Requirements - What must you possess
University degree or equivalent work experience
Experience in the electrical industry and/or power systems will be given priority
5 years of work experience with proven commercial technical sales experience in a relevant industry; power system sales experience is a definite plus
Experience and comfort working within a formal sales environment and a proven track record of success
Familiarity with GE powerplants or other equivalent power systems is a plus
Capability to develop complex proposals that include the sale engineering elements a definite plus
