We design, build, deploy and service critical power systems that include all elements on the customer side of the electrical entrance including the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), the generator set, the DC power plant and the Uninterruptible Power System (UPS). The Technicians’s role is to assist in the design, development and maintenance of critical power systems and electrical control systems. You will be involved in projects at most stages including building, testing, quality assurance, shipping, installation and handover. You may also be involved in maintenance or service programs. As well as having the technical knowledge and skills you need to be able to interface in a professional manner with your team and clients, project manage and work in a fast paced and sometimes chaotic environment. We are after all and emergency power systems company!
You will work with a multi-disciplinary project team that includes the customer and other team members to build complex power systems. You will be involved at every stage of design and development or may just be involved at one particular stage depending on the customer needs.
This role will involve travel (including global travel) up to 50% of the time. The travel requirement can occasionally include last minute trips around the globe for up to two weeks at a time.
The nature of the role varies according to industry or sector, but the range of activities is likely to include:
Building custom cabinets and electrical systems in our workshop;
Servicing existing installations;
Reading design specifications and technical drawings;
Estimating and tracking costs and timescales;
Liaising with others in the design team;
Attending meetings on site;
Qualifying the final product or system;
Servicing and maintaining equipment;
Planning the shipping of complex systems;
Manufacture and assembly of electrical panels based on customer requirements
Awareness and compliance with UL and CSA standards
Light machining work
Wiring and assembly of panels
Panel Testing and Documentation
Defective goods testing
Maintenance of shop and adhering to all safety standards
The Requirements - What must you possess
Electrical Engineering Degree or Technologist/Technician Degree (or related experience)
2+ years experience in assembling control panels and/or machine building
Experience with modelling software for electrical applications
Four years work experience, which can include your internship work years, preference will be given to those with direct experience in power systems;
Familiarity with GE power systems or other equivalent power systems is a plus but not required;
Experience with hand tools/shop equipment
