POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for directing, planning and managing construction project(s) to be completed ahead of schedule, within budget and in compliance with Company safety and procedural policies

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Develop construction documents
  • Finalize design with Owner
  • Contract professional services, schedule and coordinate
  • Identify and coordinate the submittals of all documents
  • Instigate and manage changes
  • Manage subcontractors and scopes of work/change orders
  • Manage other Field Engineers and their responsibilities
  • Finalize design with Owner
  • Work with Superintendent to resolve problems
  • Order all equipment rentals
  • Material Equipment Transfer Records
  • Costs code all invoices and receipts
  • Review timesheets for accuracy and completeness weekly
  • Review construction documents, prepare bid list to insure all work items are accounted for and manage the bid process
  • Coordinate team for takeoff and bid assembly assignments
  • Attend pre-construction and job meetings
  • Purchase all material components
  • Negotiate and award contracts to respective subcontractors
  • Review construction documents to insure compliance with Owner’s contract
  • Initiate, review and obtain Owner’s approval on construction documents
  • Quote all change order and Owner’s request for extras
  • Review the submittal and approval process of the monthly application with the Owner
  • Establish and manage a construction and engineering schedule to include construction documents; permits, submittals and approvals; construction activity
  • Establish “Job Timing” with all subcontractors at the time of contract award
  • Obtain shop drawings from all subs and complete review and approval
  • Establish delivery dates for all equipment and materials in accordance with the schedule
  • Confer with Director of EH & S on any jobsite safety issues
  • Manage and resolve or assist superintendents in resolving all conflicts such as: failure of subcontractors to perform; failure of materials to arrive; contract disputes; and trade conflicts
  • Interface with field superintendents to: maintain an open line of communication and reporting; monitor job progress, schedules and subcontractor performance; and coordinate the operation of the field through management of field personnel
  • Compile all necessary information to create an operations and maintenance manual/file which will include subcontractor list with contacts and phone numbers, warranties and operation instructions for all components within the budget
  • Review with all the various local agencies to determine final acceptance, which will include release of all bond monies and final Certificate of Occupancy
  • Review the project and determine acceptability of completed work on an on-going basis
  • Inspect work and establish final punch list
  • Maintain extra work authorization log, identifying items and their resolutions
  • Review subcontractor’s application for payment based on percent complete and approve or adjust
  • Approve material and subcontract invoices for payment
  • Issue change orders to subcontractors
  • Establish and maintain all warranties and guarantees
  • Attend all manager meetings
  • Attend trade shows and conferences on management and construction topics as presented
  • Travel is required of all positions and location of assignment is at the discretion of management

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Construction Management, Engineering or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward MasTec’s Zero Injury principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Primavera, Timberline, and Construction Software
  • Read, analyze and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts or governmental regulations
  • Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers and the general public
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
