W.P.Telectronics (ALTA) LTD. is seeking Fiber Optics Installation Technician's for full time year round employment.

Job Duties

  • Respond and resolve customer issues arising from the installation and operation of High-Speed Internet, Digital Phone and/or cable services
  • Contribute to the growth of all products and services through promotion and sale of our products
  • Respond to customer reported service problems involving analog, phone and digitally delivered services
  • Detect, diagnose and correct issues affecting the services of our customers in a safe and controlled manner
  • Operate and understand test equipment related to the maintenance of 2-way coaxial and fibre systems including , field strength meters and leakage monitors
  • Work with other technical staff to ensure the resolution of customer issues in an effective and timely manner
  • Maintain accurate system records and support documentation for all work orders
  • Ensure vehicle, test equipment and tools are maintained in excellent condition
  • Promote a positive image of WPT products and services while providing exceptional customer service
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the job, which includes heavy lifting (up to 80 lbs) and climb ladders up to 40 feet
  • Various other duties as needed

Required Skills, Experience :

  • Experience in cable television service (either practical or theoretical) or post-secondary education in Telecommunications is an asset
  • Advance PC hardware and software diagnostic skills
  • Experience with RF cabling are considered assets
  • Knowledge of cable television and the associated technical and safety standards
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, TCP/IP and related Internet applications (Browsers, Mail, etc.)
  • Goal oriented and motivated with the ability to work well independently
  • Able to perform work safely in all types of conditions - indoor and outdoor
  • Physically able to perform all aspects of the job including (but not limited to) the climbing of ladders, working in confined spaces and the safe operation of hand tools.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract and must provide a driver’s abstract annually
  • Learn and adhere to all applicable Health & Safety regulations
  • Team player with excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work various shifts including weekends and evenings
  • A positive, “can-do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity
