Job Description:

As part of the Coporate Finance business unit in the Shared Services and Finance division, the corporate accountant position is a key position in the month-end financial process and the year-end process. This position is responsible for project managing each month end cycle, ensuring the necessary tasks and controls performed across the organization to report on financial results is done in a timely and accurate manner. The Corporate Accoutant will be part of a team of 3 accountants and 5 accounts payable coordinators to maintain the accurate, timely and relevant reporting of World VIsion's financial position and operations. This position is responsible for major journal entries affecting the monthly financial reporting including: expense reporting, banking, treasury, financial report preparation, financial analysis for accuracy, bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations. Monthly regulatory filings for HST/QST and external reporting fall under the responsibilities of the Corporate Accountant. For year-end close, this position is responsible for the preparation of the majority of audit working papers and the external financial statements as well as the CRA T3010 filings. The Corporate Accountant reports to the Manager of Corporate Finance, and will also take part in process review and improvement projects, accounting policy research and liasing with the rest of the organization to train on finance policies and procedures.

Job Requirements:

*Minimum 5-10 years in financial accounting and reporting

  • University degree and accounting designation required CA/CGA preferred
  • Extensive knowledge and practice of current Canadian GAAP including non-profit GAAP
  • Experience with preparation of working papers and liasing with external auditors required
  • Detail-oriented and problem solver
  • Process-oriented and innovative thinker in process improvements
  • Excellent communicator and relationship-builder
  • Experience using JD Edwards is a bonus
