Job Summary/Expectations

The program manager provides operational and administrative direction for the development, implementation and management of the program. S/He implements and monitors policies and procedures related to day-to-today services to persons served and directs and coordinated day-to-day management of program staff. S/He works directly with persons served and their families/care teams as required, and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating individual program plans. The program manager participates in agency decision-making and is the primary liaison with the funder. On-call after hours is required

The successful applicant must possess:

  • Valid CPR/First Aid
  • WHMIS
  • Food Hygiene and Sanitation Certificate
  • Valid BC Class 4 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
  • Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate
  • Clear TB Screening and doctors note + current immunization record
  • Conflict Resolution Certificate
  • Current clear Criminal Record check Attorney General
  • Ability to pass licensing and/or ministry screenings
  • A degree in the humanities or a Child Care Worker Certificate and/or related experience (Masters level preferred)
  • Minimum of three years experience in dealing with high-risk youth with a variety of behavioural issues, with at least one years experience in supervisory or management role.
  • Current practice knowledge in the area of substance abuse

Required Skill and Abilities:

  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Knowledge of addictions
  • Good observation and assessment skills
  • Good working knowledge of Individual Service Plans and the ability to prepare them
  • Awareness of related youth and human rights and advocacy issues
  • Ability to liaise with family members, social workers and other stakeholders
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively and work independently
  • Demonstrated skills in designing and implementing individual programs
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other business related software
  • Good financial planning and budgeting skills
  • Excellent writing skills, including computer based report writing.
