The Community Support Worker (CSW), under supervision of his/her supervisor, provides support and training for adults with an acquired brain injury in the areas of daily living skills and community integration to maximize each individuals independence. CSWs’ communicate with support networks, provide program feedback, establish resources and complete required administrative/financial reports/duties and provide progress updates. Direct client responsibility constitutes 80% of a community support worker’s time. This position reports to the program supervisor
The successful applicant must possess:
Valid Alberta driver’s license, reliable vehicle, clean driver’s abstract and proof of insurability
CPR/First Aid ( if necessary , will consider providing training)
Non Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention training ( if necessary, will consider providing training)
Abuse Protocol training (if necessary, will consider providing training)
Diploma in disability studies, degree in related Social Sciences/Human Services degree or equivalent
Minimum 2 years community rehabilitation experience as well as experience working with individuals with Acquired Brain Injury
Clear Criminal Record and Child Welfare Intervention Check
Required Skills and Abilities:
Able to collect information and prepare maintain, edit, and organize correspondence, Individual service plans, and progress reports and other required documentation; maintain files according to agency, ministry and accreditation standards.
Able to work with minimal supervision on an interdisciplinary team and cooperate with team members to solve problems, resolve conflicts and make decisions.
Able to understand vision, mission, mandate and values of agency, and demonstrate sound utilization of organizational systems and resource; display sound judgment and best practice methodology.
Committed to philosophies and principles of community based living for individuals in service.
Good computer skills are required as all files are electronic
