Contract work. Inspection of aerospace parts for third party manufacturer.
Source Inspector/ Project Specialist (Current Employee), Irvine, Ca – February 24, 2014
Pros: independence, agreed to hours (as the job requires)
Cons: not full time work, but it works for my availability.
Work on a contracted, as required basis. I have learned to deal effectively with the supplier as an on-site source inspector. This job is predicated on good relationships so that a level of dependence and trust can be formed. This ensures all of us are working to the highest standard possible, producing a quality part every time.
My interactions with my management are minimal. More communication occurs if there are problems. This has, fortunately, not been my experience.
I have no coworkers, but work closely with the quality supervisor at the source manufacturer facility. I have also had positive interactions with the inspectors, some manufacturing employees and the security officer.
The hardest part of the job is the long drive in from my residence, but it's more than compensated for by the company I contract for and the positive relationships I have formed at the manufacturer's facility.
