Parts Logistics Intern (Former Employee) – Shippensburg, PA – 26 September 2013
The culture at Volvo allowed to self-exploration. You were given the opportunity, as an intern, to look into other positions and departments. Internal transfers are not uncommon in Volvo. There were self-development workshops several times a month. We were encouraged to take our one-hour lunch and breaks. The employees at Volvo are a family and care about what they do. It shows in their work.
They try to stay healthy in their cafeteria food options.
Good company with good salary/benefit. Unfortunately, the engineering management is shallow-minded and not well managed. If you are a new employee you have almost zero training and no coaching and they expect you to function without errors, no room for mistakes. Your evaluation is made based on the opinion of few people and if they don't like you for some reasons your days are over. You could achieve a lot of things but if you make a few small mistakes you are finished. They don't treat you like a person as a whole rather like a machine. So think hard before you quit your company to come here.
