Volker Stevin is a national contractor providing a wide range of engineering and construction services across a range of market sectors such as infrastructure, flood defence, building, roads and bridges, regeneration and remediation, complex structures, marine works and coastal defence.

We are actively undertaking projects under framework, partnering, ECI [early contractor involvement], design & build and traditional forms of contract.
Contracts are undertaken throughout the UK with recent projects being completed as far apart as Brighton and Orkney. Our services are delivered through a network of offices in Gateshead [Tyne & Wear], Morecambe [North West England], Otley [Yorkshire] and London. From these offices we are able to provide the full range of management, technical and administrative resources that are necessary to ensure successful delivery.
Our business is managed within the framework of formal management systems. Health & Safety, our highest priority, is managed through a system complying with ISO 18001. Our Environmental Management system is accredited to both ISO 14001:2004 and EMAS and our Quality Management System is accredited to ISO 9001:2000. We also operate a performance management system utilising Key Performance Indicators that cover all the key aspects of our business.
Volker Stevin Ltd was originally founded in the UK in 1934 and has remained part of the same parent company ever since. Originally, as Harbour & General Works Ltd, the Company undertook mainly marine works. The portfolio of services has expanded considerably over the years and, to reflect this change in profile, the company was renamed Volker Stevin Ltd in 2003. Our parent company, Volker Wessels, has also grown significantly. Volker Wessels is now one of the largest and most successful construction groups in Europe with a turnover exceeding 4 billion Euros. Being part of Volker Wessels provides us with considerable financial stability as well as access to a wide range of technologies through our sister companies both in the UK and overseas.
