Bloated Political Company Living In The Past!

VISA Europe a very well known organisation, however behind the brand is a dysfunctional political company, which has become a mecca for incompetent managers to prosper within!

All IT job adverts will ask for ITIL Prince 2 qualifications etc. however you will not need them as the company runs on paper based systems supported by Jurassic era IT and the – more... lack of any document management and file sharing systems adds to the fun. If you need a project document you may be told to take it off a notice board and photocopy it as it is on an individual’s PC and this ensures that they can control everything and make you fail.

Political witch hunts are supported by the incompetent managers and known to senior management,, effectively a report on your colleague system, where seeded staff make false allocations to discredit anyone that comes up with ideas to improve things which challenge the status quo.

Management comments such as “VISA is not concerned with money but with effort” demonstrate how removed from reality this company really is!

A new senior member of the management team joined VISA Europe whist I was working there and proceeded to gave a initial motivational task which must of being based on the Steve Coogan “Dearth of as Salesman” presentation (photos of the kids and problems with in remembering her age!), but nothing of substance

There is a new CEO there that was starting to make changes however the culture is so poor it will take a very long time to fix. Many new staff leave within the first 3 months and the company accepts this as part of the VISA culture! – less

Cons: top heavy management, not enough "trickle down" in bonuses, not enough honoring the old ways, or why they were that way
I was able to see Visa before and after it went public. Obviously, the higher up the chain, the more you get. That is understood and agreed. There was just a much bigger split after it went public. There were more and more Senior Business Leader positions created, and Head of ... positions, with more and more benefits for these positions. Their roles – more... were not outsourced.
