Responsible for setting up machines for production, and writing machining programs.


  • Set up machines for other operators including first-off requirement of existing repeat jobs
  • Write machining program in accordance with the drawing
  • Participate in tool and fixture selection and development
  • Machine special items
  • Operate various machines when required
  • Load/download machine programs as trained
  • Perform CNC program maintenance
  • Follow standard work practice-method sheet and instructions
  • Maintain good housekeeping, follow lean Manufacturing Process and FEM requirements
  • Report to the supervisor any damages or malfunction of the equipments and tools
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment
  • Adhere to company policies and safety rules
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor


The use of appropriate safety equipment as described below is a condition of employment and not one of choice. Safety equipment that must be worn while performing job responsibilities are as follows:
- Safety shoes with metal guard
- Safety glasses
- Ear plugs
- Respirator if required


  • Minimum five (5) years experience CNC programming / setup / operation
  • Past set-up experience on CNC machinery, Fanuc Controls preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints / drawings and follow engineering instructions
  • Ability to load/download CNC programs via laptop computer
  • Ability to use various types of measuring equipment. CMM experience an asset
  • Crane training an asset
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous work experience in an ISO certified company preferred
