The nursing and office staff are still amazing, but management needs a house cleaning. no support for new nurses basic training in a job where you are alone all the time. Coworkers will assist if possible.
Management, lack of real support, lowest paid nurses, no benefits no union no voice no ears listening to the masses.
Personal Support Worker (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 12 July 2017
VHA Home Health Care is not only an agency that care for their clients but also to their employees. They treat us like a family and always been appreciated for a job well done. Seminars and Training were done so that the employees will be updated on the new tools and technology being used in the health care services. Mandatory Team were being held every 3 months (2 hrs), attendees is being paid with free foods and refreshments. The workplace culture is so diverse like everyone is well represented. I;m proud working for VHA as they are one of the top agency in Canada.
RPN (Former Employee) – Erie St. Clair – 14 March 2017
VHA Erie St. Clair I'd always looking for nurses and will hire any one reguardless of experience. Training is minimal. Little support when doing client calls. Required to do self learning when you have questions ie your nursing text book or the internet. Lots of aftercare paperwork that will eat into your personal time. Pay does not compensate for time spent working. Mileage coverage is adequate but nurse is required to drive 200 plus kms in a day. No management support. Other employees will support if it is convenient and they have time otherwise you are on your own.
We’re sorry to hear that you had a less than great experience working at VHA. We are looking into the issues you raised but would also appreciate connecting with you directly to learn more about how we can do a better job of supporting our nurses.

If they decide they like you, they give you good clients if not they are treating you like dirt and giving you unbearable clients to work with. I was often sent from one side of town to the other. Treated very unfairly
Parent and Child Support Worker (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 27 July 2016
VHA Home Healthcare has great volunteering programs. They provide excellent training from industry professionals and certification after attending these seminars. The team is supportive and the supervisor is great at maintaining ongoing communication throughout your time there. Overall, it is a great place to gain experience while giving back to the community.
Excellent application of Social Work theory to Practice
Intake Coordinator/Caseworker (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 11 March 2016
Here, I honed my caseworker skills by managing a caseload of 40+ community members with a variety of mental health concerns. I did home visits and provided one-on-one care for people dealing with the loss of letting hoarding items go. I love this company.
The environment is casual and flexible. The team and departments are great to work with. The staff providing the personal care are compassionate and want to help people. Management is great and approachable. Everyone in the organization contributes to the overall success. This is a great place to work and to volunteer.
