Vertex Resource Group Ltd. is currently looking for an energetic Land & Environment Professional to assist our team in our Fort St. John office. The successful candidate must be detail oriented with relevant experience and a desire to work in a fast paced team environment
Specific Responsibilities of Positions
Land Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acquire surface rights for a wide range of projects including but not limited to oil and gas, mining, utilities and government clientele
  • Liaise with landowners, industry stakeholders, and client representatives
  • Negotiate and complete damage assessments, rent reviews and temporary use agreements
  • Keep informed on trends and items of interest relating to all aspects of land including but not limited to compensation, landowner concerns, and industry developments
  • Draft professional land documentation and various forms of contracts
  • Assure quality control of all documentation and deliverables
  • Maintain information and tracking systems
  • Work with project managers, land administrators and clients as required

Environmental Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct field work and environmental assessments on oil and gas and commercial properties, including Phase I, Phase II, Schedule A, Schedule B, reclamation and remediation work;
  • Liaise with regulators and conduct environmental planning projects;
  • Complete professional technical reports;
  • Liaise within industry, with clients and develop strong working relationships both internally and externally;
  • Work closely with document control and technical writing department to execute reports and ensure report accuracy and turn around;
  • Supervise reclamation and remediation projects, managing contractors and third party vendors to effectively execute workplans; and
  • Develop new environmental skills and assist in growing naturally the capabilities of our Fort St John and Peace region operation.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum combined 2 to 3 years of land negotiation and environmental negotiation experience
  • Completed post-secondary education
  • Professional Designation or ability and interest to gain professional designation in both land and environmental disciplines considered an asset
  • Understanding, experience and relationship with OGC and BC Ministry of Environment an asset
  • Ability to travel and valid Driver’s License
  • Competent computer skills
  • Willingness to learn, hardworking and honest
  • Agricultural background and experience within oil and gas industry and asset
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and collaborate with others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
