The Installation and Repair Technician will be responsible for inside plant fiber work, including the installation of cabling in various multi-unit dwellings, in diverse working conditions. This position will report directly to the assigned Project Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Install various cable types in multi-unit dwellings.
Terminate and test cables under the guidance of the Project Lead.
Complete work orders, reports and other paperwork as assigned by the Project Manager.
Accurately record daily hours and work descriptions.
Follow all safety guidelines and protection procedures.
Experience with running cable in buildings, including risers, conduit and dropped ceilings.
Knowledge of electronics, telecommunications devices and test equipment.
Excellent knowledge of safety requirements and procedures.
Good mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of simple hand and power tools.
Good manual dexterity and eyesight.
Comfortable with technology, including MS Office, Adobe and wireless personal devices.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
Positive demeanor and able to work well independently and as part of a team.
Strong sense of professionalism.
Open and willing to accept coaching.
High school graduate and completion of electronic servicing and repair program, or equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program study and experience may be considered.
Previous experience in a similar role is a definite asset.
Valid driver’s license.
Physically demanding position that requires the ability to lift, carry, grip and handle unpredictable loads.
Carry out tasks in confined spaces, at heights and under diverse weather conditions including heavy rain and/or snowfall.
Must be willing to travel for extensive periods of time to various locations throughout British Columbia.
Must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.
