Terrible Terrible
Customer Service Professional (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB19 July 2017
If management does not like you consider yourself out even though you are doing a great job. You have to suck up to the favourite staffs and lick a** a lot. It was a terrible experience, they fire for no concrete reason, they treat you like a child, as a matter of fact TERRIBLE! Run from this company except you are a certified a** licker and have no mind of your own.
Pros
Pay was okay
Cons
Terrible management, most of the staffs are just plain mean, so much politics

Only good if your face fits.
Customer Service Professional (Former Employee) –  Calgary, AB29 May 2017
Management are all best friends. They all look out for number one and there are far too many people calling the shots.

Training is poor, they expect you to instantly know an industry that could take years to learn. Unless you're experienced, they'll push you out eventually.

They don't care about their customer service team, so long as the phones are answered. If any issues arise in customer service, management will always side with the customer.

For such a big, wealthy company, their systems and the condition of the facilities (Calgary) are laughable.

Pay is good but it's not worth the hassle. Avoid.

Lacks Management with any EQ strengths | No Growth opportunities
AMC (Former Employee) –  Mississauga, ON18 May 2017
A typical day is tasking the same requests daily; taking direction from a Program Manager. You may get stuck with a PM who isnt knowledgeable or is ESL which makes it tough to work with as they're not sure what they're doing more than half the time.
Boring, repetative work that is very frustrating due to the possesses implemented, and the lack of standard operating procedures. You will get different answers from different people that are quite often incorrect. Not proactive, very reactive.

ESL is a problem with some, they know their job tasks because they've been there forever, but have no training skill sets.

Management in this area, I can confirm lacks EQ, and IQ, and is not open to improvement suggestions at all. They're threatened by anyone coming in who might have a brain, and can see within the first week that change is badly needed. They think they know it all, but they really have no clue.

Other departments do not collaborate, they pass the buck. Dump and run. They say, I don't know, that's not my job, this is the way we've always done things. Check out some of their LinkedIn profiles, and you'll fully understand the mess you were hired into.

Compensation is lacking but then again, it's not rocket science or challenging work by any means. If you're looking for a challenge with growth, this is not going to be your dream job. If you just want a no mind required job, then it might be for you. Culture is questionable.

Good luck. The other reviews read pretty accurate.
Pros
vendor free lunches, if you like subway.
Cons
no challenge or growth. Management; what's IQ without EQ?, A disaster

Warehouse Worker (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB3 March 2017
Winnipeg location is badly managed .forklifts not maintained properly, incoming stock that sits for weeks and weeks on the floor.you will never get a day shift their .evenings only available .the 18 an hour start rate is no big deal.when you see all your deductions after a 2 week check you loose a little more than 30% of it .also its union in their so that's another deduction on your check..this corporation used to be called Unisource.its all picking and loading mostly paper products like stuff for staples which is their big account.18 an hour aint bad for a warehouse job but they will look for a reason to get rid of you before your 3 months probation is up.overall don't waste your time with this poor managed corporation.every 3 or 6 months their always advertising for a new warehouse person. that should be a red flag right their for anyone thinking about working for them.
Pros
racks are organized
Cons
badly managed overall, neglegant on maintenance of forklifts

Good co-workers, poor management(warehouse)
Warehouse Specialist (Former Employee) –  Mississauga, ON23 September 2016
I worked all 3 shifts at this place. The co-workers are very helpful.
Day shift get the advantage, mostly senior employees. great bunch of guys. Day shift manager talks nicely(play double game). forgets most of the time.
Afternoon shift : good guys, do their work , very helpful. Afternoon supervisor is the best guy. does not talk much. always working and busy.
Night shift:always busy. basically this is the cleanup shift. whatever was left behind by the other 2 shifts, dumped on to this shift(put away, off loading, picking, warehouse sweeping, garbage cleaning, .....). great co-workers always willing to help each other. Supervisor is very experienced. straight forward, indirectly force employees to work extra time. Hard to take time off. Favour some employees

Management doesn't care about the people on night shift, out of all 3 shift this is the hard working shift.
Pros
Good co-workers
Cons
Poor management, long hours, dusty.

Logistics Specialist (Former Employee) –  Mississauga, ON5 September 2016
Working with the people at Veritiv is awesome, but the management sucks. No body from management even cares about the people on night shift, or recognize what they had contributed to the growth of the company. It seems like they think night shift don't even existed, and that things get magically finished at night.
Pros
decent wage
Cons
over worked, under staffed, poorly managed, no room for advancement, and so much more.
