Our client, a reputable construction company, is seeking a Sr. Procurement Manager in the Edmonton area. The successful candidate will be results-driven, relationship oriented and will have strong leadership skills. They will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities within the purchasing group and ensuring delivery schedules are effectively managed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

− Negotiate the procurement / delivery of raw materials and services
− Prepare PO and related documents
− Manage supplier relationships, including leading the lead on quality and delivery issues as they arise
− Follow up on placed orders, verify delivery of product / services and oversee the maintenance of all necessary records
− Establish and manage systems for occasional evaluation of vendor performance
− Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors
− Communicate upcoming forecasts with suppliers
− Identify and effectively manage supply risks early to eliminate or minimize impact on project execution
− Work with various departments to assist with sourcing products / services / materials that have improved quality and / or reduced cost
− Arrange for the transportation of all incoming raw materials
− Supervise the Buyer role and make sure that proper resources are in place for work volume
− Train and manage staff and evaluate staff performance
− Effectively manage business dealings with suppliers in an ethical and reasonable manner


− 10+ years of progressive purchasing experience (5+ years previous construction procurement experience strongly preferred)
− Diploma or degree in Materials Management, Business Administration or a related field
− Certification in a recognized supply chain organization (PMAC, APICS)
− Import / export customs familiarity
− Strong general business knowledge
− Computer literacy in MS Office Suite applications
− An effective communicator (written and verbal) with strong leadership abilities and a positive, goal oriented and financially focused outlook
− Ability to work well in a team environment that includes both engineering and non-engineering personnel
− Ability to recognize risk and opportunity and the ability to establish goals for minimizing / maximizing these items, respectively
