CDI College Richmond is seeking part-time Course/Curriculum Developers for our Veterinary Assistant Program. The Course/Curriculum Developer is responsible for all aspects of curriculum development which includes creating, editing, and updating all curriculum components for the program. This work involves collaborating with the academics department, management, instructors and regulators on course and curriculum design, supporting instructors in the delivery of the course, and promoting the best practices of teaching and learning to ensure program success.

Specifically, the Course/Curriculum Developer is responsible for:

  • Providing subject matter expertise to develop the program outline, and determining facility and student needs
  • Creating, editing, updating, maintaining and evaluating all curriculum components including instructor manuals, tests, assignments and projects, instructor notes, student handouts and manuals, work experience/practicum components and other related materials, resources and tools
  • Assembling a program advisory committee of other industry professionals to work on curriculum development and analysis
  • Communicating and liaising with industry and regulatory bodies to ensure requirements are met
  • Preparing documentation for submission to industry and regulatory bodies
  • Sourcing and collecting information on potential practicum hosts
  • Responding to campus inquiries, and supporting instructors in the area of expertise

The ideal candidate must possess the following education, experience and competencies:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a veterinary technician or veterinarian
  • Diploma or Degree as veterinary technician, animal health technologist, or veterinarian
  • Instructor training is highly desirable (ie. Provincial Instructor Diploma)
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills including presentation, group facilitation and business writing skills
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teamwork
  • Excellent judgment, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong relationship management skills to maintain positive working relationships with external stakeholders such as program advisory committee members, regulatory agencies, employers and work placement hosts
  • Commitment to quality service while managing multiple demands in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines
