CDI Mississauga campus is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to fill the role of Child and Youth Services Worker Instructor. The Instructor will teach students the skills necessary to enter the social services field. Topics of instruction include poverty, addiction, mental health and counseling of youth. This is a part-time position starting October 15, 2013.

The Child and Youth Services Worker Instructor is responsible for leveraging their expertise and experience to deliver education services to students through:

  • Preparing lesson plans and teaching aids that utilize a variety of teaching methods to promote student success
  • Challenging, engaging, and communicating with students to encourage their participation and learning
  • Monitoring and discussing students’ progress with them
  • Assigning and posting grades
  • Participating in the development and evaluation of curriculum and instructional materials

The ideal candidate must possess the following education, experience and competencies:

  • Degree, diploma or certification from a recognized university
  • Two or more years’ experience in a related field
  • Certifications relating to the area of instruction considered an asset
  • Teaching experience/and or possession of an Instructor’s certificate is an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to motivate, engage and inspire students
  • Ability to develop rapport with a diverse student population
