Reporting to the National Nursing Director and the Regional Vice President, the Assistant Nursing Director – Program Management, Education and Quality Assurance is responsible for instructional leadership in the management and delivery of the Practical Nursing Program in BC by providing pedagogical and didactical assistance to the Nursing faculty and Program Coordinators.

The Assistant Nursing Director – Program Management, Education and Quality Assurance is responsible for the following:

  • Assuring the quality of delivery of the PN program in terms of integrity of established processes and performance outcomes
  • Assessing and continuously monitoring the PN curriculum delivery at each campus.
  • Tracking, monitoring, and analyzing all quality assurance indicators, student academic and clinical performance indicators, at risk reports, academic student success contracts, semi annual student surveys, and Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE) results
  • Providing pedagogical and didactical assistance to Faculty and Program Coordinators to meet and exceed established program standards
  • Implementing and measuring effectiveness of mechanisms in place to enhance faculty instructional capacity, and student performance and progress
  • Tracking monthly program compliance with established policies, procedures and nursing best practice in classes and in labs
  • Submitting quarterly Quality Assurance Reports to the National Nursing Director
  • Assessing the need for, organizing and evaluating professional development activities for each campus
  • Supporting curriculum development and evaluation
  • Chairing weekly PN Coordinators calls
  • Using quality assurance processes to demonstrate accountability and support for the following:
  • Faculty – orientation, training and performance management
  • Student academic achievement – oversee student admission interviews, monitor students at risk and areas of weakness, schedule and apply remediation plans
  • Curriculum – ensure all courses are supported by available and usable resources, and address ongoing issues with PN curriculum standardization and implementation
  • PN program operations – in collaboration with the National Nursing Director, report any issues or risks that may impact program compliance, program operation or student achievement; promote and monitor Student Council activities and PAC recommendations
  • Quality control – ensure compliance to all campus processes, methods, policies and procedures are implemented and adhered, as well as all CLPNBC standards, regulations and rules; participate in program evaluation, reviews and audits

To be successful in this position, the Assistant Nursing Director must possess the following competencies, education and experience:

Competencies:

  • Proven administration and soft / hard management skills
  • Relevant skills and knowledge relating to the field of Nursing, Nursing Education
  • Proven research skills, indicated by the ability to collect and validate data, analyze results, summarize conclusions and formulate sound judgment and practical recommendations
  • Ability to generate reports, proposals and submissions under minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan long and short term, to implement, monitor and evaluate mechanisms and processes
  • Ability to multi-task, complete work in a timely manner with accuracy and attention to details
  • Knowledge of MS Office and experience searching Nursing /other scientific databases, and digital media
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, delegate and follow up
  • Ability to exhibit a professional attitude and image at all times, more specifically in all internal and external communications with a commitment to quality service
  • Ability to assess, analyze and evaluate instructors and students needs
  • Ability to take informed decisions in complex situations
  • Flexibility and ability to be a positive change agent
  • Ability to motivate and inspire instructors and students
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality with respect to all College and Corporate office matters and records

Education and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse who has completed a Master degree in Nursing or in Education;
  • Current valid License with CRNBC
  • At least 5 years recent professional experience in various practice settings
  • At least 2 years of experience in Education
  • At least 2 years of experience in Management

Other Requirements:

  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Impeccable professional reputation free of disciplinary measures
  • Experience working within a diverse adult population
  • Experience in program evaluation and management and quality control systems
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment, program coordination, implementation, and evaluation
  • Ability to travel between BC campus locations
