Position Overview:

Reporting to the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the crew member has a hands-on multi-faceted role which requires both working alone or as part of a team. The crew member ensures the highest standard of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety of all company-owned properties and works efficiently and effectively to support excellent marina guest experiences. The emphasis for this position is grounds maintenance and routine janitorial duties.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Self Leadership

  • Plan, prepare and report on day-to-day activities
  • Demonstrate co-operation and teamwork
  • Take pride in work quality, workspace organization and personal appearance
  • Participate in training and development
  • Participate in performance evaluation process

Facilities and Property

  • Responsible for following company purchasing practices
  • Observe department operating procedures and cost control measures
  • Clean, maintain and organize; properties, machines, tools ,equipment and inventory

Marina Services

  • Ensure all activities are aligned with the Marina’s Purpose Statement
  • Commitment to the Standards for Excellence and Value
  • Execute work effectively to sustain convenience for all stakeholders

Health & Safety

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies
  • Work in accordance with health, safety and environmental legislation, regulations and company policies
  • Work safety at all facilities and worksites, record and report deficiencies


  • Work co-operatively with management and other marina employees
  • Regular meetings with manager
  • Communication through company intranet

Duties and Skills

  • Performs grounds keeping activities such as dock cleaning, clearing snow, mowing lawns, raking leaves, trimming shrubs, and general grounds maintenance such as clearing litter and debris, painting
  • Operates power tools, cleaning equipment, work truck and other related equipment
  • Performs a variety of errands
  • Makes minor repairs to furniture, electrical fixtures, windows and shades, locks, faucets,
  • and other equipment
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks related to building operating systems, i.e. changing
  • filters, etc
  • Performs a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks, including but not limited to; sweeping, mopping , stripping, waxes and polishes floors; washes walls and windows, vacuums, and dusts cleans and mops washrooms and replaces soap or towels
  • Empties wastebaskets and collects and disposes of refuse
  • Manages inventory of cleaning products
  • Moves and arranges chairs, tables and other furniture or equipment
  • Cleans staff kitchen surfaces and equipment, unloads dishwasher


  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Hands-on multi-tasker, ability to work independently or as part of a small team
  • Clean driver’s license
  • Pleasure Craft Operators Card
  • Recreational boating experience useful
  • Ability to swim desirable
  • First aid certification (Level 1 minimum)
  • Computer Skills includes Microsoft office
