We are currently seeking;
Professional Practice Specialist-Permanent Full-time
The Professional Practice Specialist (PPS) will work collaboratively with the Client Services and Best Practice teams to provide clinical leadership, expertise and consultation to VHA’s health care providers to support the advancement of professional practice, research, education, and an integrated, interdisciplinary clinical practice environment. Key to this role will be the implementation of Evidence-Based Best Practices (EBBP) to enhance care outcomes, promote healthy work environments, and ensure excellence in care and service delivery. This role is also responsible for ensuring that skills, competencies and advanced practices are in accordance with the respective regulatory bodies, VHA policies and procedures and directives.
The PPS is further responsible for supporting the strategic priorities of VHA to ensure that care and service delivery models align with VHA’s strategic directives, provincial priorities, emerging trends and changing practice expectations. As an informal leader and influencer, the PPS will ensure that all activities conducted are congruent within the organization’s policies, procedures, standards of safety and quality, and employment standards including human rights legislation. As well the PPS will lead a variety of clinically-focused committees, work-groups and project teams supporting team members in achieving successful outcomes.
KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
Registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, RNAO member
Masters’ degree in Nursing or Education required
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in educational programming and clinical teaching
Good understanding of the health care services and delivery processes in the community sector
Evidence of ongoing professional development and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning
Knowledge of adult education principles and a demonstrated ability to facilitate education programs for staff and service providers
Understanding of learning needs of unregulated care providers and interdisciplinary point of care providers
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and education within a collaborative coaching /mentoring context
Strong clinical practitioner with an ability to use knowledge-transfer techniques to put research –based knowledge into practice.
Demonstrated expertise in facilitation and evaluation of learning outcomes.
Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Organization and self-management skills
Highly motivated, with a demonstrated ability to be self-directed, working independently and as a member of a collaborative team
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve effectively
Proven track record of achieving personal and organizational performance targets
