Maintenance Engineer (Current Employee), torontoSeptember 8, 2014
structured place to work with good support from management. Unilever will always work to develop and grow your skills. Pitfalls are the competitive nature of employees there most often at the expense of company goals.

Maintenance Electrician/Mechanic (Current Employee), Simcoe, ONJuly 23, 2014
Could be a great place but the environment has apparently gone down hill since Unilever bought the little ice cream plant. The plant may not be around for too much longer according to the current manager.

operator (Current Employee), Simcoe OntarioMarch 27, 2014
Cons: very demotivated work force.
Management has a cut throat mentality. Employees are never appreciated as well as this facility gives new meaning to the term "Lean Manufacturing" Packers are treated the worse as they are pushed harder and faster until they get hurt and then made to feel like they have done something wrong. Lipton Canada (Unilever) was a great place to work!
Lead project developer (Former Employee), Toronto, ONFebruary 3, 2014
Pros: excellent work environment, with great pay and bonuses.
Cons: none that i can think of at this time.
Lipton fostered personal skills as well as providing Time Management training and Project Management training.

I was encouraged and rewarded with cash bonuses to meet project deadlines on time and under budget.

The CFO of Lipton Canada had an amazing memory. He could have one conversation with you, and remember the details of that conversation, almost – more... word-for-word, as well as who was in your family and how old they were, months or years later!

Very comfortable place to work with a great view of Bloor St. in Toronto! – less

Cut-throat competitive and very political
ABM (Former Employee), Toronto, Ontario, CanadaMarch 27, 2013
Pros: location, industry learning opportunities, work from home
Cons: not collaborative, poor management that limits your growth, lower than average salary
Pros:
Great downtown location
Fun and bright coloured "happy" office
Good opportunity to learn from inter agency and unilever organized events, activities, guest speakers, etc.
Opportunity to work from home if you need to
It will look good on your resume

Cons:
Individualistic vs collaborative work culture, more ABMs than brand manager positions, so – more... there is cut throat competition to show off and make it to the favorites list
Poor management: favoritism, lack of coaching and clear expectations, no constructive feedback which inhibits your professional growth and development. Management does not make your success their success, you're pretty much on your own.
Large number of "mandatory" company meetings, events and activities, limiting the time to do your actual work.
Lower than average starting salary for this particular role – less

Machine Operator and Mix Flavour
Machine Operator, Mix Flavour (Former Employee), Simcoe, ONOctober 9, 2012
Pros: great pay, good co-workers
Cons: forced overtime, supervisors knowledge
An excellent job for a person my age but there is a large gap between what happens on the factory floor and what the supervisors believe can be done. At times there is a huge lack of communication between what the workers can do and what the supervisors think can be done. The managers need to have a better grasp of what the factory is capable of.
