General Labourer (Former Employee) – Ontario – 4 March 2018
Just bought the Dove advanced care ant i- perspirant. Worst anti-perspirant ever!!!!! I'm not kidding you; within a half an hour, I had BO. I kept trying it for a few days just to make sure and it's def a problem. Worse than when I don't even put it on!
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 12 February 2018
This Company is very target oriented and each employee have a Standard Leadership Skill which based on Bias for Action, Accountability and Responsibility, Growth Mindset. Each employee have to demonstrate each of the SOL through job responsibility. It has became the top employer of choice in 2017 and i am very proud to work in Unilever Bangladesh Ltd.
Machine Operator (Current Employee) – Simcoe, ON – 10 February 2018
Not enough pay for the work you do. HR is terrible and your pay cheque is always wrong. No direction from supervisors. They have new people training new people and the people who have been there for her are miserable and hate life!
Machine Operator (Current Employee) – Simcoe, ON – 23 January 2018
Overall it is a very good place to work other than the lack of communication and bumps and snags with management. There are often times when management will fail to pass a long infomation to employees that is needed to do their jobs and therefor the job itself will suffer.
Packager (Former Employee) – Simcoe, ON – 31 December 2017
I enjoyed working here. The job can be strenuous if you do not do proper stretches , or eat and sleep properly. Because of the 8-10 hour shifts that you would work 5 days a week you have to be prepared for the changes in your daily routine. The work environment was very clean and proper. The sanitation staff do a very great job of keeping this workplace clean and safe for the workers and for the people who may buy frozen treats from this company. If something were to break down, they would put you on paid break until the issue was solved .The management is always on top of things and they do treat all staff with respect and are keen on helping everyone. The most enjoyable part, great hours and pay, and Free ice cream on breaks !
Purchasing Agent, Supply Chain (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 14 December 2017
Constant lay-offs and outsourcing and high rotation. May worked like public employees, looking at the clock, more a job than a career. I stayed because of my boss, not so much the company, culture or work. No leadership; we were on our own.
They paid me very well for being at various junior levels.
never percieved a unifying work or company culture (everyone was in their own world)
Great work culture with a core value that enriches lives
HR Specialist (Current Employee) – Toronto, ON – 7 December 2017
The culture is a fun filled CPG type of company. The ability to work on global teams in the comfort of your own home is truly second to none. You get exposed to all the different facets and teams of a global company with over 170,000 employees and there is always something new and exciting going on. Never a dull moment!
if you have a passion about sustainable living, then the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan is at the heart of the core values and what makes Unilever strong.
Sales (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 11 October 2017
Worked there on an internship. Manager didn't enforce the whole "work-life balance" culture that everyone else got to take advantage of. The quality of the internship was horrible - mainly just reporting and printing out things for people. Didn't feel that I actually learned a lot.
company is also changing a lot, going to ZBB. Really impacting the work culture
Expected to put in extra hours, no praise, bad intern experience
Seasonal Light Labour (Former Employee) – Simcoe, ON – 17 September 2017
The Unilever Simcoe plant is a very clean and welcoming environment with safety as their number one priority. Every employee brings forth their best efforts in order to ensure that things are running smoothly. Management is always there to listen and to provide a solution when you bring up an issue within the plant. The most difficult part of working for Unilever is that if you are a seasonal employee, shift work may be hard for you to get used to. Also, standing for the entirety of your shift may be difficult for people as well. In my opinion, the most enjoyable part of working for Unilever is that you are always able to safely communicate with your coworkers while on the production floor. There isn't many positions where you are isolated and unable to have a conversation. All in all, Unilever is an excellent place for people to work, especially for students who are looking to make some extra cash during the summer months.
Machine Operator (Former Employee) – Brampton, ON – 29 August 2017
I liked working here and would still be working here if the plant did not move its production to the United States. Management was fair and did not get in your way in your daily job. Friendly coworkers made for a good atmosphere.
