JOB FUNCTIONS: - Function as day-to-day contact (Subject Matter Expert) for payroll processing, training and investigate payroll related issues
- Multi-Province and multi-company Payroll experience in both Salaried and Hourly Payrolls
- Responsible for timely and accurate processing of payrolls
- Audit semi-monthly payroll data
- Supervise garnishment and liens function
- Comply with Federal, Provincial and Local laws
- Manage payroll deductions related to federal/provincial tax requirements, direct deposits, RRSP, healthcare, garnishments, etc.
- Manage benefits program
- Lead internal year-end tax reconciliation process and distribution of timely, accurate annual statements of earnings (T4)
- Lead employee orientation process
- Enrolment of new employees in payroll and benefits system
- Processing of ROEs
- Experience in E-pay/payroll distribution systems
- Maintain and organize payroll records and established retention policies
- Develop and assist with process improvements, system enhancements and operational activities
- Build relationships of trust, respect and partnership with end users by providing superior customer service
- Demonstrate proper discretion in dealing with sensitive and highly confidential information
- Input designated accounts payable and receivables into Great Plains
- Other duties as assigned
Education: - High School Diploma or equivalent
- Formal payroll education
- Formal accounting education
Experience: - 3+ years payroll processing experience
- Great Plains processing and reporting experience preferred
- Multi-Province payroll preferred
- Salaried and Hourly Payrolls
- Experience in E-pay/payroll distribution systems
- Experience in entry level accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable
Skills: - Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and implement process improvements
- Self- Starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated organizational skills, high standard of accuracy, attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills
