Pros: free lunches once a month
The work was so easy,at this job.Only thing i did was to drive around the base and pick cardboard and paper. One of my co-worker was funny to be around, the other was playful. The hardest part of this job is to find something to do.

Making Excel Spreadsheets
Receptionist/ Administration (Former Employee), Manchester – April 9, 2013
I was working at URS as a Temp. While I was there I offered to help create a spreadsheet to help the facilities Manager record and calculate all invoices for 8 different offices across the UK. This task was challenging but very much rewarding.

I found URS a nice place to work, the co-workers wer very helpful and friendly. It made my short stay enjoyable.

Extemely gratifying place to work.
Operations Secretary (Former Employee), Hermiston, OR – April 9, 2013
Pros: employees were dominate in the process of obtaining vpp status with osha, and urs rewarded with products regularly.
Cons: i'm sure their must be one but i can't think of one.
While the work we did at this site was extremely dangerous the company was very safety consious and proactive in keeping employees interactive in the progress of the work.

Too large of a company with lack of job growth
Field Engineer (Current Employee), New York, NY – April 7, 2013
Pros: job security
Cons: too large of a company
There was a lack of relationship with anyone within URS. The company was too large with its sole goal to make money.

Great work enviroment.
Chemical munitions handler/ Operator (Current Employee), Stockton, UT – April 5, 2013
Pros: great saftey work enviroment
Cons: shift work its a 24 hour operation, but i would work it again.
Working at URS gives me a great feeling of confidence, and saftey. We acheived over 16 million safe man hours, and 2 VPP star awards. The number one rule at URS is the saftey of my self, and the saftey of others. It was a team that i was proud to be apart of.
We destroyed the largest stock pile of chemical warfar munitions in the world, and I am proud – more... I played a part in that role. – less

Great company, bad contractual relationship.
Senior Logistics Analyst (Current Employee), Redstone Arsenal, AL – April 3, 2013
Pros: great benefits with job growth opportunity
Cons: sub to another contractor
A typical day at work includes performing normal Logistics Task per the the contractual agreement with the Army. I learned an up close perspective of the new Army provisioning system and database LMP. The management team /company is great but on this contract, we are a sub to another company and I am not comfortable/appreciate the relationship. My co-workers – more... are old professionals that know the inside and out. The hardest part of the job is working as a sub to another company that could learn a lot about teaming. The most enjoyable part of the job was being an important component of the US Army's mission accomplishment. – less

Good Place to start, but you will not grow career wise
SUPPLY TECHNICIAN (Former Employee), Fort Lewis, WA – March 30, 2013
Pros: good pay.
Cons: job security, contract was lost, management, sick time, bonus
would be a good place to work if half of the people cared as much as you did. There were people in positions that really shouldn't be in those positions. It was all about the buddy system. Management couldn't make decisions on anything, and when they did it really didn't make sense. Though it was decent pay there were no reviews being done either.

Productive
Deputy General Manager- Water and Wastewater (Current Employee), Bangalore, India – March 30, 2013
Pros: flexible timing
Cons: increased work load
The work Schedule is flexible. Since the work involves multi-faceted domains so there is always scope to learn new things. Since the projects involves dealing with different levels of client, value addition is required at every level and hence can fine tune the design at every stage. There is Team work and gets support from subordinates peers and bosses.

Sr. Project Billing Specialist (Current Employee), Tampa, FL – March 29, 2013
Pros: flexible time
Cons: no room to grow
Normal daily/monthly routines: run financial reports, review reports for proper revenue recognition, generate monthly invoices. Review financial reports against invoices, submit invoices to managers for final review, finalize and submit to client for payment

Small company feel with big company benefits and drawbacks
Senior Architect (Former Employee), Sacramento, CA – March 28, 2013
Pros: flexible schedules, great people
Cons: top down management not often in tune with local team
This firm is not well know outside of professional circles, and it appears to prefer that. Expanding markets or changing course is difficult due to size of corporation. On the local level, people are great to work with, managers are generally approachable, and branch management tries to keep people informed at a general level and also satisfied in work – more... environment. – less

A well balanced position with work compensation, great learning experience
Facility Operator (Former Employee), Hermiston, OR – March 24, 2013
Pros: professional growth, personal satisfaction
Cons: benefits had extremely high deductibles, the shift work was stressful both physically and mentally
Working at the chemical agent disposal facility taught me a lot about the right safety cultures to have in the workplace. Put into an environment I knew nothing about, I found it both frustrating and challenging to adapt--and once I did, did I realize the opportunity I had available to me. 12 hour shifts, rotating days and nights.
Shift work included – more... verifying all forms of munition tracking from physically verifying their locations and lot numbers, to cross referencing government tracking forms to the company's. It allowed me to learn about pneumatic conveyor systems, operating cranes, forklifts, cascade ventilation systems, use of heavy, awkward tools in an even more awkward position to perform my job duties..and all safely.
My co-workers were people of various ages from all walks of life, which made our job smoother. We were a mostly serious bunch, and helped each other through the stress of our shift and our job itself.
A part of our job was to perform "entries" into chemical agent contaminated areas while wearing protective equipment to perform a myriad of jobs, while under direct supervision and control of a process supervisor, and a control room operator, through CCTV and personal radios.
I'd say the most enjoyable part of the job was being able to look through our logbooks, our paperwork, our storage areas, and being to see, every day, the impact we were having on the company's mission: to safely, and environmentally compliantly, dispose of a part of the nation's stockpile of chemicial weapons. Every munition sent in for destruction was both satisfying, and rewarding. – less

STAY AWAY FROM ANCHORAGE ALASKA
Manager (Former Employee), Anchorage, Ak. – March 22, 2013
Pros: nice building. free parking
Cons: work-life quality (expect unpaid 60-70 hour weeks due to understaffing).
This, relatively new office, is a collection of relatively new employees who prefer to do things the way they were done at their old companies. This creates significant confusion and constant stress as different Project/Discipline Management staff want their work done differently. URS will espouse an impressive collection of "best practices and procedures" – more... but they are seldome followed preferring to do things to individual past experience and preference. Couple that with ineffective and often absent senior management and you have a company which must be micro-managed by their only client infusing another level of requirements, practices, priorities and procedures. The Houston Office has similar issues. Significantly top-heavy with overworked staff due to frequent and constant employee turn-over. When I was there over 60% of my department quit within 10 months! If you like a place where Management regularly angrily shouts at each other and subordinates this is the place for you. – less
