Key Entry Administrative (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 20 September 2017
I worked here part time for a year. It was great and I like my coworker there. But this job was not for me.
This is a good company if you looking for job security, stable income and benefits. If you come to work regularly and on time you shouldn't have any trouble with management. You can advance to different position if you take notice of the job posting once in a while. In the meantime, learn what you can especially reading books on how to work with other. Most of the job duties are trainable ... people skill that is something anyone should learn on their own to understand who they are and how they can work well with other.
job security, stable income and benefits.
part time and not flexible in term *cough* creativity
UPS is a good company to work for because it provides good company benefits but its being run by clowns who are not qualified to be leaders.
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) – Richmond, BC – 19 September 2017
Usually its being run by a bunch of clowns who only got their position by sucking up to their bosses and ratting others out ....typical way to get to the top but not qualified to be a leader. The management team turn on each other when the going gets rough. Its a dog eat dog kind of workplace. Only the bullies survive.
STORE ASSOCIATE / GRAPHIC DESIGNER (Current Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 11 September 2017
The UPS Store should not be confused with UPS Shipping. It is an independently run franchise. As with any franchise, turnover is usually high and management changes every few years. The experience can be wonderful, and the most difficult customers are those who confuse the Franchise with the Shipping Company. Work centers around printing and shipping (with the balance different for each store), and you will often find yourself in high-stress environments with tight deadlines. Time management is the hardest part of this job, and it is often difficult to meet the time requirements set by the customers. However, successfully completing the work on time and on quality is very rewarding.
Industrial Engineering (Former Employee) – Toronto, ON – 6 September 2017
Great place to learn the ins and outs of the logistics business. Very experienced Operators but poor tactical management. Sups and Managers in many functions lack leadership or management skills, they're just there based on seniority.
Middle management and pressure to do more with less
Package Handler (Former Employee) – Edmonton, AB – 21 August 2017
Customers are hostile and do not understand importance of secure delivery and release of packages. Shipping out of packages is simple for domestic items and very detailed for international destination. Additional documents required for customs. Shipping requirements are priority to avoid damaging other packages in shipping to ground and air destinations. Drivers accommodating and will try to do second attempt on same day. Drivers have social commity that plan events and get togethers to show appreciation for each other.
4 hour shift
Emotionally draining, no support from management, disorganized warehouse
Slow pace, poorly managed, unfit work environment.
Warehouse Associate (Current Employee) – Belleville, ON – 21 August 2017
Poorly managed, run-down company that will ship absolutely anything for money! They hire very poor workers and treat them horribly. They are lazy and treat customers like a joke. Holding packages on purpose just because they don't like the person.
Benefits, union, internal hiring
Slow paced, poorly managed, profanity in the workplace
Customer Service (Former Employee) – Surrey, BC – 20 August 2017
It was a great job that dealt with something new everyday, I have learnt so much from this job. To be able to smile and be confident infant of your customers, greeting and helping the customer with what they came in for. I enjoyed my job a lot, everyone was super nice.
Sales Associate/ Receptionist (Former Employee) – Calgary, AB – 15 August 2017
Had the opportunity to learn from the owner to we created flyers, posters and business cards for customers Packaging and shipping all types of items from large items to everyday courier packages and envelopes Sorting mail for 100's of mail boxes Organization of clients and their annual or monthly invoice payments.
Courier Delivery Driver (Current Employee) – Stoney Creek, ON – 14 August 2017
It's modern day slavery for the new guys. You gotta put up with the BS for 5-8 years before it gets decently better. Even at that, it never truly gets better. You'll start your day around 0830 and while they say you should be done around 1900, there have been too many nights going until 2100. The overtime is nice but, you won't have much of a life working here.
UPS (Current Employee) – Mississauga, ON – 7 August 2017
I feel that a job is okay. However, the Loader/Unloader position can be stressful because of the management and the physicality of the position. I have learned that dedication to do the position and meet the quota is something that something that is easier said than done. Over time, the position became a lot easier as I stayed working there for two years now. UPS is a great opportunity for students who are in school as I took advantage of the reimbursement that the company gives me for receiving good grades. I also gain top rate or full time 8 hrs pay for a position that is part time. Management can get on your nerves in the beginning of your employment but that soon changes as you are more familiar with the company. The Work place culture is diverse with various people and sometimes workers receive snacks for good work done. The only downside is that the management can be terrible and hard labour.
tuition reinbursement, less hours, snacks and food on special occasion
Operator (Current Employee) – Vancouver, BC – 6 August 2017
Very well organized and high pace work environment. You are required to learn how to multi-task and stay on top of the things all the time. The hardest part of the job is to plan and prepare resources to go through peak season such as Xmas time while facing challenging weather conditions. The most enjoyable part of the job is to put smiles on people's face each time when we deliver our commitments.
