Very knowledgeable place to work
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee), Marietta, GA – March 9, 2013
Open or close the store, make cash deposits, make reservations for truck or storage rentals, keep inventory up to date, perform preventative services on trucks, and provide excellent customer service. I work very well with all my co-workers and work well as a team. The most enjoyable part of my job is helping the customers and knowing that they walked – more... away understanding the process. Because it can be very difficult if a customer does not understand and have questions left unanswered. – less

I worked in many aspects of the company between Albany, NY and Daytona Beach, FL
Managent Positions (Former Employee), Albany, NY – March 7, 2013
Pros: working with people, spending alot of the day outside
Cons: time away from the family
I moved up in the company quickly, at first. When I was in Albany, NY, I started as a customer service representative six months later, I was promoted to General Store Manager, then I was an Assistant manager, reservation manager, traffic control manager, Area Field manager before moving on to the repair shop.
Basically all the above positions consisted – more... of helping customer with their rentals by making sure they had safe clean equipment to use. – less

Great company to work for if you dont have a family
CSR Senior (Current Employee), San Antonio, TX – March 7, 2013
Pros: knowledge of hitch installs and electrical
Cons: cruddy managers that dont care about you
The work is fun and the managers are ok but they hire too many teenagers who think they are better then everyone. If you plan on making a career out of it make sure your not married with 4 kids because personal situations dont mean crud to them. The pay is not that great either.

great place to work especially with the college kids that would work throughout the summer
Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee), Hampton, VA – February 27, 2013
Pros: loved it because job was close to my house
Cons: hated the fact i couldn't get a fulltime position
I would go to my office and begin fixing/repairing storages. Learned customer service skills, interacting, etc., my coworkers were always so busy I hardly had time to talk to either of them. The hardest part of my job was repairing some almost impossible storage spaces. The most enjoyable part was the freedom to do what I wanted without anyone bothering – more... me. – less

Pros: heath benefits and the hours
Cons: not employee friendly
Some days i loved going to work some days i hated it. the people i worked with are awesome but some of Uhaul's policies are not employee friendly. The policies are sure to get you cussed out. I loved my time there and especially the people i worked with but i wouldn't work for the Uhaul Company again

Great company to work for
CSR/Assistant Manager/General Manager (Former Employee), Toledo, OH – February 7, 2013
Pros: benefits, employee stock program, flexible hours
Cons: limited advancement opprotunities, low number of hours
The work was generally fun and enjoyable. It does become monotonous some times. I learned how do install hitches, operate a forklift, and manage a store. The employees within the company are generally fun to work with and have a positive attitude. The hardest part of the job was ensuring customer satisfaction. I enjoyed hitch instillation the most out – more... of all the things I did with the company. – less

Unfair pay for General Managers
General Manager (Former Employee), Shillington, PA – February 5, 2013
Pros: you are employed
Cons: long hours, horrible pay
As an Assistant manager, I was paid more than I did as a General Manager, because you are compensated for every hour you work (hourly). If you are looking to get into management, go for an Assistant job. Uhaul requires GM's to work 55-60 hours a week minimum (salary), which averages out to about minimum wage to run a store (payroll, hire, fire, storage, – more... hitches, rentals, sales items, inventory, vendors, propane, etc.), that has a revenue of $700,000-$800,000 a year. They give you the GM title and leave you to fend for yourself. – less
