Job Title: Family/Wellness Counselor
Reporting to: Director of Health and Wellness
Department: Health and Wellness
Compensation: $49,140-$54,600 annually (depending on qualifications and experience)
Position Type: Full Time/Permanent
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week

The Tsay Keh Dene First Nation is located in the Rocky Mountain Trench, approximately 575 km north of Prince George, B.C. The Tsay Keh Dene Nation’s Territory is comprised of 862.2 hectares bordered by the Williston Reservoir, the Finlay Forest Service Road and the Finlay River. The band membership of Tsay Keh Dene is approximately 400 and the administration is based out of two band offices located in Prince George and Tsay Keh Dene.

Based out the Prince George office and working between PG and Tsay Keh Dene, the Family/Wellness Counselor will counsel and advise individuals and support families with alcohol, tobacco, drug, or other problems such as gambling and eating disorders. He/she also counsels families & groups and engages in wellness and prevention programs in the community including the Safe Home. In delivering these services, he/she utilizes a case management approach, collaborating with the Mental Health Counselor on staff and representatives from a number of supporting agencies. He/she is required to provide coordination in the areas of case management, case planning, and implementation of recovery programs. The caseload of the position tends to be varied, complex, demanding and often crisis orientated. Other related duties as required by the Director of Health and Wellness.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, skills & abilities:

  • Completion of a Diploma or Degree in social sciences majoring in counseling
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in family/wellness counseling.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor from AIA preferred but not required
  • Advanced Diploma in FASD preferred or willing to acquire.
  • Criminal record check clearance.
