The objective of the Systems Administrator role is to assist more experienced System Administrators in ensuring the continuous operations of BPA's systems.
The Systems Administrator will be a key participant of a high performance team responsible for analyzing infrastructure, maintaining, implementing and providing technical and operational support in network and application systems. Expertise ranges from Microsoft Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and writing scripts as needed.
Perform new hardware and Windows OS installations, patching and upgrades. Provide hardware support to desktops, servers, printers, and other office related equipment as needed.
Diagnose and troubleshoot Tier 1&2 technical support requests
Manage active directory users and computers
Support applications including major latest versions of Windows Server, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Exchange.
Document procedures for system administration activities
Work with the team to implement new technologies such as virtualization and Avaya phone systems.
Must be able to work independently and be proactive to provide solutions to solve problems.
Strong interpersonal, customer service, result oriented and team building skills are essential.
Have excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation
Must have access to a vehicle as this person will be travelling between sites within the GTA.
Competencies & Experience:
Minimum 2 year diploma in computer-related field
2-5 years recent experience in a helpdesk or Systems Administrator role
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
relevant certifications for systems and network management on Windows platform are an asset such as MCITP.
A solid understanding of server, network, and desktop infrastructure
IIS Web Server knowledge
Good problem solving and troubleshooting ability
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good at time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills
Demonstrated experience with the following will be considered an asset:
Windows Server, Active Directory, Failover Clustering
Microsoft SQL Server Database
Experience with Avaya phone systems an asset.
