The Accounting and Payroll Administrator is responsible for a variety of accounting, payroll and office management functions for a Canadian retail apparel chain. The position requires a keen attention to detail, while seeing the big picture; a high level of organization, and ability to multi-task and juggle priorities; and is accountable to meeting timelines within a fast-paced environment. The Accounting and Payroll Administrator reports to the Senior Accountant, and works independently on a variety of key roles for the company, which include:
ACCOUNTING Accurate and timely processing of accounting functions, which includes accounts payable approval and data entry, payment processing and monthly reconciliation, fixed asset posting and amortization, vendor statement reconciliations, financial management by coordinating funds transfer between companies, and payment of government remittances.
PAYROLL MANAGEMENT includes processing for all stores and head office, employee set up and changes, including maintaining employee files, vacation, sick and banked lieu time, ROE, entering all Payroll Source Deductions, EFT Submission, and maintaining a payroll calendar, staying up to date on current payroll legislation and changes.
FINANCE SUPPORT Assisting Senior Accountant with month end/year end deliverables, including bank reconciliations.
OFFICE MANAGEMENT functions including reception (meet & greet, receiving couriers), office supplies ordering, overseeing building repairs and maintenance, cleaning services, and making sure that we all know when there is a birthday coming up, so we can eat cake.
The Must Haves:
- 2-5 years of experience in a Junior to Intermediate accounting role with payroll experience
- Experience using Sage ACCPAC and Microsoft Office
- Honesty and integrity in how you work, and how you engage with the people around you
- A team player, who is service-oriented and maintains a high work ethic
- A happy person, who likes what they do
