The Accounting and Payroll Administrator is responsible for a variety of accounting and payroll functions for a Canadian retail apparel chain. The position requires a keen attention to detail, while seeing the big picture; a high level of organization, and ability to multi-task and juggle priorities; and is accountable to meeting timelines within a fast-paced environment. When there are mysteries that present themselves, someone who is curious and demonstrates initiative to work through problems to find the solution, is the kind of person that will be a great fit within this role.

The Accounting and Payroll Administrator reports to the Senior Accountant, and works independently on a variety of key roles for the company, which include:

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, approval and data entry, payment processing and vendor statement reconciliations, coordination of funds transfer between companies.

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION: Payroll processing for all stores and head office, employee set-up and changes, including maintaining employee files, vacation, sick and banked lieu time, ROE, entering all Payroll Source Deductions, EFT Submission, maintaining a payroll calendar, and staying up to date on current payroll legislation and changes.

Other ad hoc responsibilities include reception (meet & greet, receiving couriers), office supplies ordering, overseeing building repairs and maintenance, cleaning services, and making sure that we all know when there is a birthday coming up, so we can eat cake.

The Must Haves:

  • 2-5 years of experience in a Junior to Intermediate accounting role with payroll and accounts payable experience
  • Experience using Sage ACCPAC and Microsoft Office
  • Honesty and integrity in how you work, and how you engage with the people around you
  • A team player, who is service-oriented and maintains a high work ethic
  • A happy person, who likes what they do
