The Facility Attendant is responsible for providing facility set-up, custodial and maintenance support to the building. This role consists of performing a variety of jobs including; set-up and take down for facility activities, cleaning, general housekeeping, grounds and internal facility maintenance duties throughout the building. The role requires good time management skills, great customer service, flexibility and the willingness to support all departments within a scheduled work day.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years related work experience
  • Commercial and/or residential cleaning background
  • Handyman and landscaping experience an asset
  • Knowledge of cleaning products (chemicals)
  • Familiarity grounds keeping and cleaning equipment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Physically fit and able to lift and move objects (i.e. 50 lbs. or greater)
  • WHIMIS Certification
  • Police security check mandatory
  • First Aid and CPR an asset

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Prepared to work a varied schedule including some evenings and weekends in a seven day a week sixteen hour per day operation
  • Cleaning experience and handyman experience in a similar work environment a definite asset
  • Proven cleaning standards and ability to meet required work requirements and deadlines
  • Willing to utilize equipment and learn specific job related cleaning tasks
  • Able to take direction and is comfortable doing room set-ups
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative and able to work independently

Performance Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Sets-up and takes down equipment for various program activities throughout the facility (i.e. gymnastics, birthday parties, special events, etc.) prior to program start
  • Follows booking sheets outlining program and room set-up requirements
  • Works closely with program staff and informs of any issues or concerns regarding set-ups/take-downs in a positive manner
  • Keeps up facility grounds (lawn maintenance, clearing sidewalks, garbage pick-up, snow removal, etc.) as scheduled
  • Assists with facility odd jobs (i.e. painting, floods, department clean-up duties, annual maintenance projects, etc.)
  • Assists Building Operators as required and scheduled by the Facility Operations Supervisor and/or the Facility Operations Manager
  • Performs routine cleaning program in assigned areas of the facility to the identified standards
  • Initiates and carries out a cleaning tasks as set by the Custodial Supervisor to ensure efficiency in work habits and quality results around scheduled program set-ups and take-downs
  • Works in and around patrons safely, effectively and in a friendly manner
  • Ensures that all jobs are done in compliance with the instructions received, the work plan outlined and in the timeframes given
  • Provides the necessary support in planning and coordination of annual cleaning and maintenance projects as required
  • Delivers on cleaning tasks as specified in the daily/weekly shift cleaning schedule for each facility area but also ensuring take-down and set-up needs are met
  • Works cooperatively with other facility staff and assists in their duties as requested by the Facility Operations Manager or Custodial Supervisor
